Saturday May 5

trail run 15:00 [1]
warm up jog to the start and 4 strideas again.
Orienteering 56:20 [4]
Man, this was rough. I just looked at the splits and I either bombed the contol (slowest split of the group) or got the fastest or second fastest split. It was discouraging that I could make those mistakes, but I was having real trouble reading the map in the beginning of the course. I couldn't make the terrain match up to what I was seeing and I should have chosen even easier route choices, but I just didn't learn my lesson. Oh well! I did what I did today, and tomorrow is another day.

Friday May 4

Event: US Team Trials

road run 20:00 [1]
warming up before the sprint. I did a lot of jogging around because I had time to kill. Did 4 strides as well.
Orienteering 15:50 [5] 2.98 km (5:19 / km) +65m 4:47 / km
Sprint for team trials. It was fun and faster than I expected when looking at the map. Made no mistakes, although I think the route Ross took to #8 might have been faster, but I like the way I went :)

Wednesday May 2

road run 45:00 [2]
running from my house in Newton over to Comm. Ave and then running home after the threshold run.
road run 20:00 [3]
Threshold run on the grassy strip on Comm. Ave with dad. I was pretty ried for this run, HR around 183, and maxing at 186. That's a bit high for threshold runs.

Tuesday May 1

road run 23:00 [1]
got up early this morning to go running. Probably about the 4th time ever I have done this. But the early mornings have been so beautiful that I wanted to get outside and enjoy it. I almost didn't get out of bed, but I looked out the window and the sun was shining. A slow jog around Crystal Lake.

Monday Apr 30

road run 20:00 [2]
did the same workout as Friday. I have no time (hence the nonlogging recently) so I am trying to squeeze in some runs so I don't feel completely out of shape. Jogging before, between and after intervals.
road run 10:00 [3]
ran 1 minute intervals with 30 seconds jogging between while looking at a course I drew myself from team trials maps. Man, they were even hard to read at a jog on the pavement. I was quite tired by the end and my last 2 "sprints" were pretty slow. I'm still quite sore from the weekend.

Sunday Apr 29

trail run 8:00 [2]
There really wasn't much room to warm up either day, so I didn't warm up as much as I should have.
Orienteering 1:09:40 [4]
Today was a much better day than yesterday, in that I managed to hold it together through the whole course. I wasn't as smooth as I was in the beginning yesterday, but I was only missing a little bit in the circle on a few of them. I was on the wrong hilltop on #10 and stoof there for a bit figuring that one out. I didn't have the energy at the end of the race that I usually do to really push the last controls. I think it was due to having very sore lower legs. I bent my ankle at some angles it really doesn't like (it was swollen again a bit tonight) and I have been running funny on my right foot because of the blister on my toe, so the tendon on the outside of my leg was sore. I was really just a mess :)
