Saturday Jun 9

trail run 1:03:16 [3]
skyline trail run with Hill. We tried to run the beginning faster, which I think we may have done. We did manage to shave off over a minute and a half from last week, so that's nice! Getting closer to some of my fastest times...

Friday Jun 8

road run 45:00 [1]
The run to and from the Dedham track. Hill and I took a longer way home to get in a longer run. She is a horrible influence on me.
track workout 14:00 [4]
3 1200s. times: 4:26, 4:26, 4:25. Aiming for 4:29. 3-5 minutes of rest.

Wednesday Jun 6

road run 45:00 [1]
Warm up and cool down for the threshold run with Hill.
road run (threshold) 22:00 [3]
Threshold run with Hill, starting on Comm Ave. We took a detour the first time because we weren't going to be able to crross the street and I didn't want to slow down. So we went around the block. The second time we just started running down a side street unitl I recognized some place and then got on a new path. While running down the side street we passed a guy running who I guess didn't expect us and said "holy shit!" as we ran past. Oh yea, we're fast :)
HR was a bit low in the beginning, but I couldn't get the leg speed up. 178 in the beginning, although around 184 in the end.

Sunday Jun 3

Event: NEOC - Nobscot

Orienteering 1:01:52 [3]
Oritneering at Nobscot. It's a fairly simple map, and yet I managed to make two mistakes. On #6 I thought I had a good route planned out, but I didn't follow my compass carefully and got caught messing around in swampy green. Then on #11 I tried to be sneaky and cut the trail, but then, for still unknown reasons, never saw the trail I was aiming for.. or something. I still have to go back and look at it. I wore the HR monitor, to see what my HR is when I am orienteering. It was around 175 when I was working hard, but would drop much lower going tin and out of controls. About 180 is threshold, and I don't think I was even working that hard.
Orienteering 44:57 [2]
After the red I took a quick drink and headed out on the green course, which was the same as the red, minus a few controls and plus one more. I took a different route to #1 just to see what it was like, and I got rather confused :) No more mistakes after that though, and I had the chance to redo #6 and I did it quite well the second time. Still, Hill beat me on green by less than a minute and dad beat me on red by the same amount. I was really starting to feel the last few days of hard training, after a few weeks of minimal training. The front of my quads are really sore. My HR during the green was lower - around 165. My legs were just too tired to go faster.
