| Dad and I went to the Blue Hills for an orienteering/ woods interval workout. We have old relay courses that we have run on many times. Each one is slightly different, so you have to look at the map, but I know about where most of the controls are. So this means that most of the training is running fast through the woods. Today it rained/snowed in the morning, so there was a later of slush on the ground. This made the hills a bit more tricky than usual, and since almost all of the Blue Hills is hills, I had to go a bit slower in speed, although still working just as hard because of my feet slipping around. The first loop we did was the Blue relay loop. All of the courses go around the pond, which took about 9 minutes and that I ran at threshold pace each time (it's flatter and more open).

| Course #2 after about a 5 minutes break. Again running 9 minutes at threshold around the pond. |

| And course 3, again with 9 minutes at threshold around the pond. Very wet feet at the end of this, but quite warm while running. We saw lots of fathers out hiking around the pond with their kids. One little girl said as I ran by, "Nice day for a jog!" And I thought, I'm not jogging! |

Friday Mar 14 |
 | road/trail run 32:00 [2] | |
| shoes: Asics 1130 |
| An easy run from Newton with some high knees and butt kicks thrown in to entertain myself and strech out. Made sure I did atleast 5 minutes of streching when I got home. |
Thursday Mar 13 |
 | road run 50:00 [2] | |
| shoes: Asics 1130 |
| Running over to Westfield Street for the Thursday hill threshold training! |
 | road run 21:30 [3] | |
| shoes: Asics 1130 |
| Times: 7:01, 7:05, 7:05. My HR the first time was between 178 and 180, which is lower than usual, but the time was fast and the legs were tired. My HR for the second was more around 180-181 and then 181-182 on the third. Dad started right in front of me halfway up the third one and my HR got a bit high (184) as I unconsciously tried to catch him. I had to force myself to slow down. Too competitive :) |

| My calf was itching today at work and when I scratched it I pulled out a thorn from Tucson. I almost showed my student, but then I thought they might be grossed out :) |

| I was planning on doing a long run with a threshold run in the middle of it. After school today I went to visit my old school where I worked last year. I picked up a letter of recommendation from a teacher and stopped by to drop off my resume with the principal. It turns out that they are interviewing tomorrow and he wants to squeeze me in. He had me call my current principal from his office to ask if it was ok. So I am to arrive tomorrow morning and they are going to squeeze me in some place! I'm excited to have the interview, but I don't feel ready for it! When I interviewed at this school last year he told me that I needed to improve my interview responses. Well, with only one night to work on it, and also finish my paper for class that is due Wednesday, I cut the run short so I would have enough time in the library tonight to get it all done. |

| But I didn't cut the threshold part of the workout. Ran for 20 minutes at threshold pace. I had a hard time getting my HR above 180, and was running around 178 for most of the run. I just couldn't get my legs to go faster. My HR only went up when I ran up hills. My left quad is sore, especially when running downhill. And I can't seem to find a strech that streches the right place. |
Monday Mar 10 |
 | road/trail run 59:30 [2] | |
| shoes: Asics 1130 |
| Run by myself around Newton. I basically ran my usual route backwards, but then ran through the park at the end instead of sticking to the roads. Ran with an old map from West Point to keep myself entertained while running.
Muscles in outer quad to knee are sore today. Just like they were before February vacation. Long runs?? |
Sunday Mar 9 |
 | road run 1:48:00 [2] 12.0 mi (9:00 / mi) | |
| shoes: Asics 1130 |
| Long run with Dad, Hill, and Ross out in Greenfield where my grandparents live. It was a nice run, although I wore too many layers to start out with. Legs felt fine and cough has basically gone away. |
