No work today - Good Friday. Dad and I went to the Blue Hills to do a memory course.

| Dad and I did a memory course at the Blue Hills. It's gusty out today, but in the woods it's beautiful! Sunny and feels warm while running. I could smell the warm leaves and it made me anxious for spring! Good course, although I was losing concentration near the end. On my second to last control I didn't study the map at all when dad was running. When he got to his control I took a quick peek and then headed off toward mine. I had a hard time telling which reentrant was which and I stopped about where I thought my boulder should be. Dad made me be sure, so I ran to find another boulder in a reentrant and I attacked from there, and I ended up in the same spot, although it still didn't look right. So then I went out to the trail on the other side of the control and attacked again and ended up in the same spot again. Turns out that I was in the right spot the first time, but I was thrown off because the printing of the map was bad and it didn't print a nearby boulder. Also, I wasn't confident in my ability the first time, so even though I was right, I doubted myself. Orietneering without streamers or controls means that you have to be confident in your decisions! It's good practice.
I'm happy with my training this past week. |

Does eating an entire bag of mini Robin Eggs in 24 hours count as training?

Running over to Westfield Street and back. And down the hill between intervals. It was raining on the way over, although was almost pleasant when we finished.

What a surprise! Three times up Westfield Street with Hill and dad at theshold pace. Times were 6:56, 6:58, 6:59. Fast times. Tired legs. Low HR. I didn't hit 181 until the top of the beginning hill on the third time up. On the first two I was 180 or below the whole way. Quite strange, since these times are faster nd my legs were heavy feeling, byt the HR was low. I was holding the watch in my hand, instead of wearing it around my wrist. But I don't think that should make a difference.

Running with a high school friend around her place. It was good that I had the running date planned, or else I may have skipped running in the cold rain. I guess we were running faster than I normally run, but I could still keep a conversation and it felt good.

Long run with a threshold run with Hill around the neighborhood. We ran to Cutler Park, but took a wrong turn so it took longer than anticipated to get there. I ate chili for lunch and I thought we were running around 4. We ran around 2 instead and the chili wasn't sitting well in my stomach.

Threshold run with Hill around Cutler Park. Didn't feel so good and, as usual, had a hard time keeping my HR above 180. But it was above 175 the whole way. Mostly on flat trails, which always makes it harder for me to keep the HR up.

Long run with dad on trails in Weston. We were thinking they would be cleared of snow, but there were some icy downhill sections. It's fun to run around there because the map isn't terribly accurate so we spend awhile running around trying to find the correct trail and getting lost. It gives you something to do while running :)
