| xc skiing 3:00:00 [2] | ||
| Arrived in Jackson and after a breakfast of French Toast with strawberries, bananas and whipped cream we headed out to ski. The trail loop we decided on was only about 20K so we were figuring on 2 hours. Part of the route was supposedly double tracked so we wouldn't be able to skate. For this reason, Dad, Ross and I decided to wax our classic skis. Hill couldn't be detered from her skate skis. The trip took us longer than intended for a few reasons. One is that I am so slow on classic skis. I always opt for skate skiing when possible and haven't classic skiied since last winter (if even then). So Ross and I slowed everyone down. Then we climbed uphill for the first half, if not more. Two hours into it we figured we had about 2 hours left at the rate we were going. Then we hit a 3k downhill strech and that picked up the pace :) The way back along the river was nice and I was sick of slowly skiing along, so Ross and I decided to skate. Skating in my classic skis was not the easiest thing, but it was faster than I was moving before. Ross and Hill pulled ahead, and eventually Dad did was well. I eventually went back to classic skiing and shuffled along until we finished. Tiring trip! | ||

| A short run on Newton before leaving to go skiing in NH this weekend. I find that if I don't run my arch is very stiff and sore the next day. | ||

| The plan was to run the courses at Rocky Woods that we will be missing this weekend (I'm going xc skiing in Jackson, NH with the family and Ross). But Hill had crew practice at 6, so we didn't have time. Instead, we did something terribly unusual and ran the Westfield Street hill.
Times: 7:02, 7:03, 7:02 HR monitor was really pissing me off and not working well, but I think my HR was above 180 most of the time. Except at the end of the third one I decided to run faster and I got my HR up to 187 at the top of the last steep section. My legs were understandably tired after 2 hard days.

| trail run 32:30 [1] | ||

| Warm up: 12:30
Warm down: 20:00 I drove over to Hammond Pond to run the course that Ross planned for last weeks CSU training. I was going to run over, as it's only about a 15-20 minute run, but I wanted to orienteer in my oshoes and I didn't want to run over in them or carry them.

| Ran the course two times. The first time I tried to go to the right to #1, but drifted left and so ran the first half of the leg to the right of the line and then went to the left. A bit sloppy on a few other controls - not deciding exactly what I was doing ahead of the time and slowing down slightly when coming into the control. I didn't wear my HR, but I was running at a fast, but not deadly, pace. My ankles were rolling around the whole time and felt like elastic bands. Which I suppose is better than having them feel too stiff. | ||

| Shaved off a good bit of time. I didn't take splits for unknown reasons, but I certainly saved time going to #1. The rest of the course I was simply more confident than the first run. This time I was orienteering aggressively and confidently. It made me think about how I should be able to orietneer all the time with these feelings. The knowledge that your feature will be there and checking off the correct features along the way. This is a feeling to strive for in all my races - confidence! | ||

| Running to Wilson Mountain and back.
Dad and I confused eachother, and I thought that he was going to call if he couldn't go running and he thought he was going to call if he could go running. I sat around Dedham for awhile, then around 5:00 finally got out the door to go running. The sitting around isn't good because I have too much time to think about how I don't want to run. I decided to run over to Wilson Mountain and run a 20 minute threshold run by running out and back on the outer trail.
| trail run 27:37 [3] | ||
| shoes: Asics 1130 | ||
| It took me 14:01 to run to the end of the trail, which, if I remember correctly, is a good time for threshod running speed. Then I turned around to run back and I figured I might as well run at threshold all the way back to the beginning of the trail, instead of stopping at 20 minutes as planned. Plus, since I just signed up for the Flying Pig I have to get in shape quick! Felt good running today and even made it back faster - 13:36. It helps that it's mostly downhill on the way back. HR around 180 most of the way, and I hit 186 sprinting back to the beginning to make it under 28 minutes. | ||

| An easy run around Dedham with Hill and Dad. | ||
| road run 1:30 [5] | ||

| We stopped at a hill and for the fun of it ran up it 3 times. It took 24, 23, and 22 seconds to run up it at full speed. It felt good :) | ||

| Erging in Dedham. I get bored after about 10 minutes, even with the TV going. | ||

| road run 2:10:00 [2] | ||
| We were visiting my grandparents in NJ, so dad, Hill, Ross and I went on our usual long run through the farmlands and rolling hills. The time passed by quickly, which is always nice during long runs :) I think dad (coach) is planning on linking some pictures we took while running on his log. | ||
