| Fun first leg of the relay today. Ran very fast and managed to do alright, despite running to two of the wrong forked controls. I had the short fork at the last forked control, which was also nice... :) But I paid for it by having the longer forks earlier. |

| A fun first leg of the WUOC relay. Hung on to the lead pack the whole way and there were a lot of us running together. Although I was behind the pack at the spectator control I navigated cleaning ot the next forked control and finished second, which I think is pretty cool :) |

| Middle Distance Race at WUOC. Put my route in routegadget http://www.okilves.ee/RG/cgi-bin/reitti.cgi?act=ma...=
I had a shaky start, finding 1 and 2 ok, but then really blowing up on 3 and 4. I tried to follow the swamp on 3, but ended up to the south on a hill, where I actually managed to relocate. My route doesn't look so bad, but for the last bit after I left the swamp I was walking the whole way. There were extra rides in the green and I kept on wondering if they were the ride I was looking for. Then on 4 I think I cut off the trail in a different spot than I thought. I meant to cut north of the three open swamp areas, but I think I cut above the small single open swamp area. I was aware that I might have done that, but then I was trying to figure out where I was with too many possibilities running through my head. Figured I would keep going until the correct swap, since it's rather big, but then was worried that I hit the small one before it. Was on the south end of the swamp for awhile, since the swamp extended further than shown on the map and I thought I was in the right area. Headed north and then saved by seeing the flag and another running coming into it. Then it evened out more, helped by the fact that there was now someone else running around me so I no longer thought I was off the map. Missed #7 by hitting the small swamp to the south of it, which was quite open. Not the clean race I was hoping for, but I survived. |

| Uh yeah, it was pretty bad. After taking so much time off of any running to "heal" my ankle and then coming here and running for two days in terrain I was beat during the sprint. Quite tired running. I was worried that I went the long way to #4, as I was so busy reading how to get in and out of the stadium for #3 that I didn't look ahead. Therefore I began running right towards the uncrossable fence. Was going alright after that, slow speed, but not making any large mistakes. Then I ran right by #10 and out into the field. I couldn't figure out what I did and tried to relocate by finding the fence on the map, which I did but it didn't help me too much. Finally realized I went too far and ran back into the woods. I found the vegetation hard to read here. Then on the last control I was all ready to run to the top of the ramp and only turned at the last moment to run under the bridge. I had a reasonable goal of top 30, which I didn't make. And I hoped for a top 20 finish with a solid run, but even without my 50 second mistake I wouldn't have made it. Not fast enough today. |

| Running around with Hill on the model map. We never found one of the controls because the terrain was so crappy that we just couldn't get through it. Nettles and thorns and ferns over our heads. Bad footing, too think to run and no visibility. Hope there isn't too much of this in the middle... |

| First day in Tartu. Went training this morning with some other teams. Since we signed up late we got a photocopy of the map. I wouldn't want to race in this version, but training on it was fine. Woods are thick everywhere. Fields are especially bad. Ankle was sore after running, but held up ok while out in the woods. I am careful when running on it and certainly run a bit differently because of it, but I think it will be fine for racing. |

| Running a sprint that Hill planned out on the sprint map right by our hotel. The park is very cool and fun to run through. The slopes were steeper than I thought they would have and I should have taped my ankles or worn o shoes. My ankle was really sore and tired when I finished. I also managed to DSQ myself since I jumped a wall :) It was totally jumpable. Which is not the point, I know. |
