Sunday Jan 31

road run 2:01:00 [2] 13.0 mi (9:18 / mi)
shoes: Asics 2130

Long run with Hill and Ross on this chilly morning (about 12°F). Left earlier than I would have liked, but now it's nice to be back with the whole day ahead of me. Ran on the streets in Newton. No way to wear quite the right amount of clothes because when the wind blew it was cold but then with no wind and the sun it was ok.

On a separate note, I want to buy an external hard drive for my mac. Can I buy any one and format it so it works with my mac?

Orienteering 1:22:00 [3] 6.1 km (13:27 / km)
shoes: mudclaw 330 0

Another day at Pine Hill, this time on a contour only map. When I checked the weather before leaving home it was a balmy 9°F and I thought that I would turn into a popsicle. But it turned out to be a sunny and warm run. I had on too many layers and ended up shedding my hat and one glove. Had on three long sleeve shirts and wished I could have dropped one. As for the orienteering - the legs that went well, went very well, the legs that went badly, went horribly. This makes me wonder about my relocation ability. It's also a matter of confidence because I was in the right place one time, but looking at slightly the wrong angle and not seeing the tape. The other errors were due to making a parallel error because I was not paying enough attention and a wrong angle on my compass from an attackpoint. But in all cases I had a hard time relocating using only the contours. Something to think about anyway. But was a lot of fun seeing Dad and Lori in the woods - Ross was too far gone :)

Friday Jan 29

lifting/strength 32:00 [2]

Burn with Kearns. Think I'm ready to move up to the 15lbs weights again for the arm exercises. Then the extras, and some other stuff on the ball with the weights.

Thursday Jan 28

road run 40:00 [2] 4.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Teva Trail Shoes

Running in Dedham with dad. We went at the perfect time which was after the mini snow storm. Still the sun was shining and the snow was falling. It was a beautiful combination. Not looking forward to the extremely cold weather we are getting this weekend.

rowing machine 20:00 [2]

Erging after the run. Dad told me he did 20 minutes this morning and 20 minutes would make it an hour so I did it. Got a small blister. I know. I'm a wimp.

Wednesday Jan 27

trail run 1:28:00 [1] 8.6 mi (10:14 / mi)
shoes: Teva Trail Shoes

Left work right at 3 so dad and I had time to run in the Blue Hills. Dad brought along an old bike-o map, so we did running bike-o. Can I log this as orienteering? :) Some very large puddles and patches if ice, but runnable if you didn't mind running alongside the trail sometimes.

Tuesday Jan 26

road run 55:00 5.5 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics 2130

I left this watch in the car but I think the time is about right. WIth Dad around Dedham, doing pickups up Wesfield St hill with a map.

Ug, typing is hard because I tried to saw off my index finger when cutting a bagel on Monday morning. And now my bandaid is getting in the way. I suppose on the bright side I didn't lose my finger :)

Monday Jan 25

Note

Really windy and rainy, plus feeling a bit under the weather form whatever Ross and I contracted this weekend.
