First time using the garmin transfer, Unfortunately, I stopped m watch at a control instead of taking a split, so some adjusting has to be done. I don't have a split from 7-8 or 8-9. Interesting to see HR, but now I have to look at the garmin and see what I have my zones set at.

Cristina and I drive up to Phoenix again today for an orienteering meet at Coon Bluffs. Completely different terrain than I had ever been in before. The course was about 7.5k and it was suggested that it might take us over 2 hours. I certainly hoped not as I set out because I wasn't sure I could run in the beautiful sun and heat for that long. Careful on the first control, but then too high on the second and missed the reentrant completely. I adjusted well to the map on the way to #1, but I was just relying too much on looking for the details I saw in the contours on the ground on the way to #2 and not simplifying enough for 20ft. contour lines. After going into the wrong one I had to come back, and that cost me about 3-5 minutes. After that it was much better. Very much a runners course with lots and lots of climb. Hesitated in the circle in a few places where I was feeling insecure, although I was right both times and if I had only gone all the way down the reentrant to my feature I would have been fine. Lack of confidence cost me the rest of my lost time. Lots of fun running around in the sun and blazing up and down the hills. Afterward we went out to lunch at Cheesecake Factory :) yum.

What a time getting to Tucson! My flight as delayed out of Boston and so I missed my connection in Dallas. The Carrs saved me from sleeping on the cold floor by picking me up at he airport and taking me to their house. It was late when we got there and my flight the next morning left at 7:30am. But not a flight to Tucson, as there weren't any until Sunday night. Instead I flew to Phoenix and Cristina drove to pick me up. But just as the plane was leaving Dallas I realized that I didn't have my phone with me. I left it at the Carrs and again they are saving me by mailing it here. So after the kindness of fellow orienteers, I made it to Tucson. Cristina and I stopped on the way back at Picacho Peak. The first 2 miles were fairly flat, but then it went uphill quickly. I cut both my hands on the cables climbing up :(. The view on top was amazing. Also, as Cristina mentions, every person we passed running was amazed at our ability. One person even started clapping for us :)
