Orienteering 17:29 [3]

NAOC Sprint

So much sprinting fun! I am always the most nervous before sprints, but I always really enjoy them. Some small hesitations but no major mistakes.

Sprint Relay
Winsplits all legs

My forking

On a great team and had a fantastic time running first leg. In the beginning I was behind Emma and mostly just choosing the routes behind her. It actually helped when we had a different forking and I could head off on my own. Ran a great final loop and came in 35 seconds ahead of Hill, Emma and Louise. Anton and Greg then ran well on the men's legs and sent Ali out chasing Emily. Ali also had a great run, but was so focused she forgot to punch the spectator control. Still - we ran a great race!

Orienteering 1:28:05 [3]

Lots of trouble on 1, 2 and 3 but then it got a lot better. Annoyed at the mistake I made in the final loop, but otherwise was just out there alone orienteering and doing an ok job of it. Better than yesterday anyway!

"Viewing failure as shameful creates unnecessary anxiety, tension, and pain. Failure cannot be avoided. The greatest of the great have failed at times, and so will you."

And so I did today.

trail run 41:30 [3]

Really well run, until it wasn't. Cut off one indistinct trail too early, realized it, but then took a bad angle back and got stuck in thorns and downed trees. That really ruined my direction and even when I came out to another indistinct path I had absolutely not idea where I was.

Life's a bit stressful at the moment. After missing a bunch of teaching days for WOC I'm now missing 3 more for North Americans. Working fulltime this year has certainly taken up more energy and time, and then leaving lesson plans for 3 days is taking all my extra time this week.

I saw the end of WOC as the beginning of my orienteering retirement :) Which is great and I feel a wonderful lessening of pressure, but that does make it hard to continue to work towards NAOC.

Well, it'll be great to go home and see wonderful people and drink pumpkin spiced lattes!!!
