Sunday Mar 31 #

road biking 1:05:00 [1]

I biked into town and back again pulling Sofie in the trailer. We went to meet up with friends at the park, but they overslept on their nap so we actually spent about 2.5 hours at the playground. I was getting pretty chilly at the end, but Sofie seemed fine and was doing a good job playing by herself in the sandbox for a long time. I skipped running today in hopes that it would help speed up the recovery from this cold.

Ran to get Sofie from preschool and then ran to a playground a bit further away. She really enjoyed the slide today! Then ran back home. I took off Wedneday from work to try to rest and get healthy. It didn't work unfortunately.

Orienteering 1:32:00 [2] 14.5 km (6:21 / km) +53m 6:14 / km

No more Tisdagsbana, so tonight was night orienteering intervals. After I swore off orienteering after the weekend I was a bit surprised that I was going, but it's Lisa and my night out ;)

Ross came home a few minutes late, so I was late leaving home and late arriving. The group was already running away but Lisa and Kate were hesitating by KG, knowing that I should arrive soon and not sure if they should wait. When they saw me Lisa ran back, grabbed a map for me and I just kept running with them to catch the group. Good friends :)

Long run to the start and when we started I realized my headlamp wasn't plugged in. So I had to stop and fix that and then it still wouldn't turn on. This was confusing as it was working at home when Sofie was playing with it and trying to blind herself (hence when it was now unplugged). But I had to run to the interval finish so I could tell the group not to wait for me. Along the way I tried my headlamp again and noticed it felt weird... why did it feel like the lights were facing backwards? Because it was on upside-down and I was busy lighting the forest behind me. Thank goodness no one else was around to witness that. So arrived at the finish of the first interval in plenty of time and with a working lamp!

Did two more intervals with the group. Was never the fastest but also never the slowest. Night intervals slows everyone down because we all make mistakes :) Watch died somewhere out there, so stole distance and time from Lisa.

Made it home in time to snuggle with Sofie before bed. She cut her ear pretty badly at preschool yesterday. When I picked her up the teacher said she fell into a corner. It wasn't until we got home and I took off her hat and saw dried blood everywhere and a cut and a bruise on her head too that I got concerned. It doesn't seem serious enough to go to the doctor, but it makes me wonder how she hit something so sharp so hard at preschool and why it was still bloody. (Maybe her hat irritated it and caused it to bleed again after they cleaned it). It's hard leaving my baby girl with others all day.
