cycling 48:00 [3] 10.5 mi (4:33 / mi) +317m 2:36 / km
Freshers ride with the cycling club. My legs hate hills! so haven't recovered from last wkend....also didn't help that i couldnt breathe due to cold but otherwise was nice to get out on the bike and actually go out with the cycling club :-)
Running 34:37 [3] 3.2 mi (10:48 / mi) +62m 6:20 / km
Me and Zanthe ran to try and find ShUOCers once we arrived at fox house with the cyclists. Felt rubbish but found ShUOCers!! then back to the pub!

Running warm up/down 8:00 [3] 1.0 mi (7:59 / mi)
jog to and from western park

Wednesday Sep 24

Running 44:40 [3] 4.8 mi (9:18 / mi) +159m 5:15 / km
Girly run: warm up down to goodwin with zanthe then up conduit to bole hill, across towards rivelin but didn't go past the farm due to horse's rear legs being next to the crossing...
ran back through the cemetary up lydgate lane then back to bole hill, did a loop around the park and out on heavygate road.
Back via ingrids on springvale.
Legs felt quite heavy on the hills but with a bit more rest i think they will have renewed speed in them!

Sunday Sep 21

Running race 5:05:51 [3] 19.5 km (15:41 / km) +1250m 11:53 / km
Mounre Mountain Marathon Day 2 - B course
The second day was a mass start which made things a bit confusing as, unless you knew the people you were chasing or were chasing you, you were just hoping you were still ahead or had caught them!
As we knew Nick Barrable and his partner were uncatchable in 1st (they were 55mins or so ahead after day 1) we just had to make sure we didnt get overtaken by too much!
There were a team 7 mins behind who we didnt no but then there was half of team beanstirk in a team 14mins behind, we caught them up at number 7 but they had a quicker decent to 8 than us so we had a good race from then on to keep them less than 14mins ahead!
Had a bit of a death between 9 and 10 and slowed right down but managed to keep moving.
In the end they beat us by 5 mins ish on the second day so we kept our 2nd place overall!

Saturday Sep 20

Running race 5:41:29 [3] 20.5 km (16:39 / km) +1850m 11:29 / km
Mourne Mountain Marathon Day 1 - B course
Fairly pacey 1st day with only one dubius route choice left us in 2nd place overnight.
The course had some nice steep hills in it! some very mean!!
was very happy to get to camp by the end of it!

Thursday Sep 18

Running 56:30 [3] 5.8 mi (9:44 / mi)
Run around burbage and down to gridleford cafe for birthday meeting up with new mills friends. legs feel really achy atm and not inclined to move too fast but felt like we were pushing the pace enough today!
C • *cough* 3

Wednesday Sep 17

Note
(rest day)
Worked long days for the last 3 days so not had time to train, having a good rest for the mourne mountain marathon! finger is in a boo..

Saturday Sep 13

orienteering 38:15 [3] 3.3 km (11:35 / km)
Anagach oing, line course, didnt feel in touch with the map at all but didnt make errors either by some miracle....
orienteering 29:28 [3] 3.25 km (9:04 / km)
Anagach sprint race - felt slow but hit everything minus one (which i was on top of but couldnt see) so ran ok. enjoyed this far more than the line exercise as i actually knew where i was!! great end to the wk!

Friday Sep 12

orienteering 1:15:45 [3] 7.6 km (9:58 / km)
Roseisle orienteering, long o - really enjoyed this one! made a couple of minor errors and 11 was possibly in the wrong place. felt i was getting a bit more pace in my legs woop!

Thursday Sep 11

Running 1:45:00 [3] 8.0 mi (13:06 / mi)
Fell run around the cairngorm with rach, zanthe, james and callum. Ran gently up the hill and then hit the ridge where wind tried to constantly take u off the path! Past that we headed up a rocky gully out of the wind!
Fun down hill over heather then hit a track. 100m down that and i crashed. really well. my finger went into a rock and really really hurt! felt quite sick after that and pace went very slowly. Met zanthe james and callum on the road after they ran ahead.
turns out i havent broken the finger but i can barely bend it past flat horizontal. working on the movement, hopefully it will improve quickly but its bloomin painful atm! In my classic style it looks like i havent done anything to it!

Wednesday Sep 10

orienteering 1:03:15 [3] 5 km (12:39 / km)
Achlean orienteering, mass start race. After yesterday took it very very steady. head to head with JT for 1 and 2 and after that was unsure of a couple of controls, was blind at 5 and 7 was slightly in the wrong place so i found it and decided it wasnt my control. All in all fairly accurate.
cycling 1:30:00 [4] 20.0 mi (4:30 / mi)
Ride up the cairngorm with zanthe, andy, james and callum, was very very windy! I missed the triple chain set on wils bike but made it up to the top! Quick photo stop then back down. As i left the car park i nearly came off the road and hill!
Only made 58km per hr this time on the way down, little unsure of the wind....not a patch on james' 55mph!

Tuesday Sep 9

orienteering 1:15:23 [3] 6.25 km (12:04 / km)
Alvie orienteering, felt absolutely nackered but made it to the line o bit which was the main training exercise of the day. followed the line then headed back cutting a couple of the last controls off.
Only error was in the same place as when it was at the scottish which i quickly corrected because i recognised the error from before.
Hash race 15:00 [1]
Ran the first 15 mins of hash but very very slowly, had no energy left to do it so turned back before it went onto the open area.

Monday Sep 8

orienteering 1:02:02 [3] 6 km (10:20 / km)
Orienteering on Loch Vaa, only made one error which i still cant explain, maybe ran down a ridge 90 degrees the wrong way.
Clean but slow other than that!
orienteering 20 [3]
jog to collect some controls with zanthe and sophie
circuits 35:00 [4]
Circuits on the grass outside! owww!

Sunday Sep 7

Event: ShUOC Training Week

cycling 47:00 [3] 11.2 mi (4:11 / mi) +64m 2:34 / km
Ride out with zanthe towards boat of garten after a quick fixing of her bike, found the fun bit of speedy road :-)

Saturday Sep 6

Running 1:11:01 [3] 7.0 mi (10:08 / mi) +186m 5:49 / km
Run through rivelin with zanthe, longest i've run for a while, felt fine but legs still lack any faster pace...

Thursday Sep 4

cycling 2:08:00 [4] 30.0 mi (4:15 / mi) +160m 2:36 / km
Ride from ulverston to coniston and back, out via torver, back via the east side of the lake.
Set off thinking thank god the promised weather hadn't arrived, about 15mins into the ride took that back....it was minging! lasted about an hour before i noticed i was a bit cold but the east of the lake road was sheltered (even if i did have to slow down for some cars which then paniced when they met 2 vans coming the other way....)
When i emerged onto the less sheltered road back to the A590 it got a bit windy, when i got onto the A590 it was a lot windy!! in the face windy! even so was glad i went out especially to see the bemused looks on peoples faces as i rode by in the wet :-)

Tuesday Sep 2

Running 43:04 [3] 5.22 mi (8:15 / mi)
Run to bardsea from ulverston and back, tried to go fast but legs hurt and also they resist pace at the best of times atm!
