Running 46:36 [2] 4.37 mi (10:40 / mi) +180m 9:27 / mi

Oh dear - well and truly wine fuelled after me and Zanthe attacked the wine as if that was also a race....

Burbage with Hazel and Joe.
Hazel got it right when she said she thought she'd never seen us three look more pathetic!

Nice day to be out though.

9 AM

Running 17:01 [2] 1.93 mi (8:49 / mi) +25m 8:29 / mi

Run down to park run with Zanthe

Running race 21:11 [4] 3.1 mi (6:50 / mi) +48m 6:31 / mi

Endcliffe Park Run - what an elite turn out, lined up with Lizzie, Hattie and Lauren on the start line.....also rather a bigger field that fell foot with time brackets being required to make sure everyone was in the right speed order. I opted to be bold and stand in the first 'sub 21' group.

Not far off and a PB :-)

According to my garmin fell foot is actually flatter than Sheffield - no excuses (except perhaps the grass) next week then....

Running warm up/down 4:00 [1] 0.5 mi (8:00 / mi)

11 AM

orienteering race 20:07 [2] 2.2 km (9:09 / km) +44m 8:19 / km

SPOOK relays leg 1 - Not my smoothest orienteering but not bad at the running part which was handy every time I needed to overtake rach/ Charlie again as they were getting the nav right....

orienteering 9:35 [3] 1.1 km (8:43 / km) +33m 7:35 / km

SPOOK Leg 2 - more like it, only one hiccup ~20s....might make an orienteer out of me yet

orienteering 20:03 [3] 2.4 km (8:21 / km) +45m 7:38 / km

SPOOOK Leg 3 - translated leg 2 nav from urban to forest, success! (Might have helped that the courses for leg 1 and 3 were fairly similar....)

Most importantly, history was made, me and zanthe finished a full relay and were not even last, there were no major wanderings and we both stayed on the map :-)

8 AM

cycling 1:08:44 [2] 14.86 mi (13.0 mph) +347m

Morning ride with JK over underbarrow - crook - staveley and back through burneside.

Lovely morning for it and a nice start to a non manic day :-)

SPOOOOOOOK!
7 PM

Running 1:09:32 [3] 7.52 mi (9:15 / mi) +347m 8:05 / mi

Friday night dinner club - out to fox house from Sheffield.

Net uphill route, with no other girlies taking up the offer it was certainly a more brisk pace than I've run up there before....but feeling good again finally :-)

Wednesday Nov 19, 2014 #

6 PM

Running 53:27 [2] 5.45 mi (9:48 / mi) +303m 8:22 / mi

Helm on the golf course - feeling tired from the off so not so much of a reps session as a repeated run up a hill at a steady pace. Called it a day after 3/6 as wasn't feeling any more lively, but glad to have made it out the door.

Note
(rest day)

Yesterday's long day taking its toll and trying to avoid burning out before christmas. Nearly cried at the thought of being the lead for a study B clinic the week before/of and after my viva. A step too far - as it stands I'm so tired I can't even read my thesis and I don't know when I'm going to manage to make more sense of it before the 18th Dec.

Monday Nov 17, 2014 #

Note
(rest day)

In work at 8:45, didn't get home until 20:45. The feeling more recovered has lasted precisely one day. Knackered.

Sunday Nov 16, 2014 #

Running 2:03:17 [2] 10.8 mi (11:25 / mi) +511m 9:57 / mi

Lovely run in the sunshine with RFR. Around Derwentwater and up Cat Bells. Stunning November weather :-)

9 AM

Running 21:45 [3] 3.1 mi (7:01 / mi) +20m 6:53 / mi

Fell foot park run. Got there with about a minute to spare given wils organisational skills. Decided to run it with the main aim of concentrating on breathing properly and not hitting wheezing state, even if this would be slower.

As it turns out I can now manage this comfortably for 2miles (first go was about 500m, last time 1mile without wheeze). Last mile was harder to maintain it but overall faster so maybe there is some improvement and it's worth the effort.

Certainly 10s faster with much less effort than last time.

Still absolutely exhausted but feeling more mentally tired than physiclaly now. Less like sack of potatoes this weekend.

Note

Glands have been up since Tuesday, bit of a sore throat but all a bit non descript. Maybe I've been particularly knackered as fighting something off.

Tuesday Nov 11, 2014 #

5 PM

cycling 1:22:17 [2] 17.98 mi (13.1 mph) +236m
shoes: Specialized Gerolsteiner

Gentle out on the road with JK. Felt fine at a cruisy pace but legs/ general energy levels still got nothing for any effort (e.g. if the road goes uphill like it did on the way back).

Figure of 8 down to Milnthorpe, good catch up.The met office have something to answer for though, it was meant to be dry! Got a puncture just before getting back into Kendal (3 punctures in 3 rides, although one wasn't on my bike). Need to break the puncture habit!

Sunday Nov 9, 2014 #

10 AM

cycling 2:09:19 [2] 24.4 mi (11.3 mph) +540m

Spin out at the lanequest with Wil. Taking it easy and hoping it might help with leg recovery. One puncture, otherwise smooth going :-)

Running race 55:26 [3] 5.0 mi (11:05 / mi) +550m 8:16 / mi

Dunnerdale Fell Race.Nice route, shame about the performance. Legs felt even worse than Wednesday and feeling generally knackered and like a sack of potatoes.
Despite that managed to finish 9th.

Been an absolutely mental month - 6 weeks at work, driving hundreds of miles, working too much over time and 50% of the time not having time for lunch, juggling the data collection with malfunctioning equipment and troubleshooting problems in order to have informative meetings to make sure everything is fixed at next opportunity in the 1 day or less a week I have to do that after deeling with the data collection and logistics.

Finally I think my body just isn't recovering quickly, Not really surprising but more than a bit annoying as it's likely to continue in this way until christmas, then start all over again in Jan-April. Have 3 days overtime to take which might help, just not sure when I can manage to take them. I have a feeling my time is fully booked out....

Running 22:31 [2] 2.56 mi (8:48 / mi) +102m 7:50 / mi

Run to helm reps on the golf course

Running 29:52 [4] 2.9 mi (10:18 / mi) +260m 8:03 / mi

Helm reps with Shaun. 5x long rep with pause after the 4th to watch the fireworks at the castle.

510m with 52m ascent. Took first two hard but really feeling the weekend, so knocked 10-15s off the pace and it was much more comfortable.

Mountain Biking race 4:28:56 [3] 37.13 mi (8.3 mph) +1200m

Open 5 Bike - Low Wray.

Rosemary was a bit injured so planned to bike first and do a 3:30/1:30 split of bike:run.
Rosemary may have got a bit carried away with 3hrs 30 plan, however should have been back in 4hrs, if her shoe hadn't fallen appart requiring a quick fix with zip ties and if I hadn't got a puncture which wouldn't seal and then my valve wouldn't come out in order to get a tube in. About 25mins wasted on that lot.....

Still, good fun riding around grizedale and for the first time ever I gave Rosemary a run for her money on the bike (until we'd been riding for 4hrs and I'd run out of food half an hour before and we still had half an hour to go....then I had a few issues).
2 PM

Running race 35:11 [3] 4.02 mi (8:45 / mi) +72m 8:17 / mi

Open 5 run - convoluted mess of a route to get 3 controls in the little time we had. Got the tow out in the last couple of km to make the last control worth while.

Would have been a different story even if we'd had an hour to run as could have made it a loop and got a couple more, but never mind. 4th overall, not a surprise to be off the podium but it didn't half get a good 'ooooooo' from the crowd at prizegiving :-P
