Sunday Mar 30

Running 1:10:00 [3] 7.3 mi (9:36 / mi) +290m 5:18 / km
Ran from hayfield over mount famine, up brown knoll, to jacobs ladder then grindslow knoll where picture taking of the edale skyline race took place! was a bit chilly so only photographed the 1st 3 before heading for the finish! Lloyd was the only one of the 3 to head down and up the valley to ringing roger, however in the time it took us to take pics of 2nd and 3rd position then take the direct route down grindslow he had visited ringing roger and was running into the finish as we got there! legs were feeling the last wk of running!

Thursday Mar 27

Running 1:18:00 [3] 6.0 mi (13:00 / mi) +261m 7:07 / km
pennine training by headtorch light, i can run uphill yey! well much better than i could lately! went past christines gate up to the dragons back and along to mt famine and south head, then down dimpers clough and up the otherside of the valley, back through the fields past andys. think JK might have done me some good :-D

Wednesday Mar 26

cycling 1:08:00 [3] 16.6 mi (4:06 / mi) +92m 2:30 / km
Ride to wed run on dads heavy mountain/road bike with extra heaviness!! 'recovery' ride to see if i could feel legs....i could but not in an entirely good way!
C • 1.08... 2

Tuesday Mar 25

Running 1:00:00 [5] 7 km (8:34 / km)
Track training at stockport harriers:
800m warm up
4X1200m with 3mins between each
did them in:
1) 4:53
2) 5:02
3) 4:59
4) 5:08 (only had 1 minute rest after the last as my group only managed 3 so i joined adie for the last one)
I enjoyed not doing sprints at stockport, it shows a massive change in my ability to run with others! (rachel was much easier to keep in my sights than if we were doing 400 or 800m)

We then did 6X100m with a rolling start! Felt like i was better at 100m after running 4X1200 than doing them as the session, also liked the rolling start! The last 100m was as much as i could manage, my legs were turning to jelly, good training session!
Feels like i might be getting some speed back finally yey!!

800m warm down

Monday Mar 24

orienteering race 41:48 [5] *** 4.3 km (9:43 / km)
spiked:12/13c
JK Relays: Again had a faff! possibly the least smooth change over resulted in me handing my compass to blanka, oops, ran off with hers! Found number 1 ok but didnt feel smooth, decided to be careful about 2 and not mess it up! hit 2 streams in the place that i thought should be exactly where it should be, it wasnt there, took me 10mins to discover it was on 2 streams a little fiurther down....not sure what i hit originally but i don't think it was on the map....either that or i took a 45 degree error which i really dont think i did,,,,who know!
the rest went ok, nackered by the hill up the finish!

Sunday Mar 23

orienteering race 1:09:34 [5] *** 8.1 km (8:35 / km)
spiked:13/14c
JK - Long race W18-20E: After yesterday really wanted a clean run! managed that fairly well, only wasted a few seconds up a hill too far at 3! Wasn't feeling quite as fast as i am normally on that sort of terrain but had a solid run!

Saturday Mar 22

orienteering race 1:01:25 [5] *** 5.2 km (11:49 / km)
spiked:16/18c
JK - middle race W18-20E: Faffed on the wrong bush for a minute or so at number 1, getting used to the scale. The rest was the best spiking orienteering i've ever managed apart from number 5 which i somehow managed to spend 18 minutes looking for!! Was a little annoyed by that as i was on the right line exactly just persuaded myself that what was actually an indistinct path was actually a massive track....it looked like a track to me!!!

Friday Mar 21

Event: JK 2008

orienteering race 24:12 [5] * 2.4 km (10:05 / km)
spiked:13/17c
JK sprint W20, ran fairly well but had a few silly controls especially at the end which involved diversions round buildings!

Tuesday Mar 18

Running 45:00 [5] 5.6 km (8:02 / km)
Warm up and down, 6laps in total, Did an 800m timetrial at Stockport track followed by 5X400m
800m = 2:52 which is what i normally do for the 1st of 4 at hallamshire...mebbe not going to a track since jan is catching up with me!
little fast people are being extremely little and fast at the moment its scary!!

Sunday Mar 16

orienteering race 1:02:24 [4]
BUSA relay! Had major incident of missing no1 and finding the ones either side of it but still being incapable of finding my no1! took 5mins+ oops, this didnt leave me feeling good about the start so ran really hard to the next few controls! lasted until the final loop before too many more faffs, then i lost concentration (absolutely nackered) so messed up a bit
got to the end to discover id mispunched no 16! rubbish! not one of my best runs to say the least!

Saturday Mar 15

Event: BUSA

orienteering race 1:12:00 [4] 6 km (12:00 / km)
BUSA individual! Spiked a fair few controls although no1 was hiding, i was right on top of it! Faffed at 9 and didnt take a great line to 23 (meaning a hell of a lot of bonus climb!) but technically good! felt i was running faster than i have been but not quite up to speed yet!

Wednesday Mar 12

orienteering 44:00 [3] 4 km (11:00 / km)
Oing on Loxley, no major faffs, a couple of not quite spikes but fairly happy!
Lacking a bit in speed still though, Laura was too fast to keep with for more than a few controls.

Tuesday Mar 11

Running hills 40:00 [4]
ran up to springvale and met dave, did a pyramid up springvale, 2mins, 1.5mins, 1min, 45secs, 30secs, 15secs, 15secs, 30secs, 45secs, 1min, 1.5mins, 2mins jog bak to the bottom recovery
last 1.5 and 2 mins were killer!! Added hail for the last rep!
Always good to have sum1 to target running off in the distance hehe
ran back down to lizzies

Monday Mar 10

circuits 40:00 [4]
3rd circuits of the yr wooo!! 45/15s
little bit nackered but not as painful as the last one!

Sunday Mar 9

orienteering 30:00 [2] 2.5 km (12:00 / km)
Had a schmole round one of the trainings planned, didnt have much energy left at all! took a couple of controls to get confident i knew where i was goin but in general not too shabby!

Saturday Mar 8

Running race (fell) 2:03:00 [4] 8.0 mi (15:22 / mi) +762m 7:22 / km
Black Combe Fell race, discovered just how slow i am uphill, better than last wkend but not much, have regained a little bit of flat pace and of course down is always fine by me!
took a detour to control 4....silly silly route cost me about 4 mins!
Nice bout of hail to the face going up to 6 but in general v fun!!!
If only i'd seen Gaz en route to the finish i might have pushed it a little harder to try and beat him :-P
C • 63 hours. that really is sl... 4

Friday Mar 7

cycling 3:05:00 [4] 29.3 mi (6:18 / mi) +505m 3:43 / km
Ride to Bamford/Edale to catch the train home went a bit wrong....resulted in riding all the way home....only 17miles of unplanned riding....
intensity was high due to riding uphill or into wind wearing a bag containing all the stuff i might need for a wkend of running!
had a nice stop for chocolate in castleton for about 15mins yum!!
Mebbe not best prep for tomorrow....

Monday Mar 3

circuits 40:00 [3]
45/15s - second circuits of the year!!!! (oh dear) this turned out to take lots too much energy! still my back seemed to appreciate most of the exercises....not quite full body crunch worthy yet!
Running 30:00 [2]
warm down jog with zanthe, laura and liz, up to the grindstone and back via crooksmoore

Saturday Mar 1

Running race 1:44:00 [4] 9.0 mi (11:33 / mi) +701m 5:47 / km
Noon Stone fell race, thought id see if i can actually complete an AM atm before next weekend!
the answer is yes but not if it involves running uphill or along flat at all fast....i appear to have lost my fast fell steep uphill walk and all speed on flat sections!
When gravity is in my favour however im still fine! (think this probably got a bit annoying for the people who thought id killed myself every time it went uphill only for me to descend speedily past them agen...)
after an hour of running my body seemed to give in to the fact that i was going to keep going so the boggy moor section was quite fun :-)
