Peak o trial - laying the course out....went anticlockwise - lost about 10mins avoiding some charging horses in a field going to no2 which was annoying, meant I took the iceyest track in the world to number 3 where I stacked it, bruised my hip and stabbed myself with a control....then I hit the tussocks - not easy going with the controls stuffed through my bumbag....Took a while getting the next 2 out due to clag and no visibility...Got halfway to the 2nd to last control before the first starter started...then, for the second year in a row followed my compass from the area near harry hut and ended up 90degrees out.....I'm not sure if it's a harry hut phenomena or if I was being stupid - but it definitely pointed me down the wrong river very convincingly....I checked several times as I thought it was a bit wrong.....and strange it was exactly the same point that it happened at...
Recovered from that having lost 15-20mins due to difficult stream crossings and pelted it to the final control stopping every few meters into it for people to punch.
Put down the moving time as was out 3hrs in all but stopped a LOT going into the last control - seems hardly anyone thought the anticlockwise route was quicker...apart from the orienteers that is :-P
Think I'll stick to racing it next year, much less stressful....
