New Open 5 distance record! 40.5 miles in 5hours (and 8 minutes but we'll ignore that) :-) Just wait until I have two completely working legs :-)
10 AM

Mountain Biking race 3:23:33 [3] 51.0 km (15.0 kph) +1003m

Open 5 Bike leg. Cleared the bike bar 1 (appears that is 2 not 1...oops, should have unfolded the map) that I had folded off my map and couldn't be bothered fiddling with map for a 10 pointer. In general was going ok - set off too fast for my hip but slowed a bit and it was fine for about 2hrs. Could feel it on the climbs then so slowed right down.

Going along the dismantled railway I was really struggling against the headwind. 5km later I realised it wasn;t really the headwind that was the problem, my rear brake had uncentered and been dragging making it really hard work. Stopped to quick fix that but it shifted again before the next control so stopped again and did it properly - 3 times before it was acceptable. Apart from that was spot on for all but the last control where I added a bonus climb in (with 2 arrows on it) by accident....or because I love them so much ;-)

Running race 1:44:30 [2] 8.67 mi (12:03 / mi) +345m 10:44 / mi

Transistion 5mins - then Open 5 Run leg. Set off and hip felt better off the bike now. Wasn't entirely hammering it though and have to admit that on the hole this was base training long pace...with walking on hills...that was until I got tempted by the ellusive 500 points...and did a daft one, the last 2 miles were deffinitely race pace and the hip held up admirably! I would log those miles as effort 4! However I was 8 minutes late back. I kicked myself a bit as the bike brake incident was worth that and the daft route choice at the end of the bike won't have helped....

But Rosemary got 506 points anyway so it made no difference! She won the day and the series with 300 points and I came 2nd in both with 482 points today and 295 points in the series ranking. Which I am well chuffed with, especially as I thought I was going to have to sit the final out and watch Mandy move me out of the top 3!

Fingers crossed the hip is still ok tomorrow, then I'll know its well on the mend!

Mountain Biking 1:36:45 [2] 20.0 km (12.4 kph) +443m

MTB ride with JC and Neil, from Yorkshire bridge, up Win Hill and down Rocky descent not in forest, then across A57 and back through farm. Hip was pretty ok, which made the decision - I will be racing the Open 5 tomorrow but conservatively. All I need to do is improve on the diabolical last race average of 74% of the winner and I should make the overall series podium.

Note

Just when I've decided to scrimp and save my way to Raid in France....My MTB front brake is completely mangled and unfixable - £110 down the drain! Thats only £60 less than I spent in November buying the new casette, chain, cables, brake shifter, jockey wheels and brake pads!

This bike is worth more than my car in many ways....

Running 27:33 [2] 3.07 mi (8:58 / mi) +90m 8:13 / mi

To Goodwin, then up to crosspool with Rach, and back along fulwood. Then home after some 'gym'.

So exciting :-D

Hip flexors relatively fine, one sore spot still but didn't change much with running so hip still working fine I think...

Cross Trainer 10:00 [2] 0.68 km (14:42 / km)

played on the cross trainer before a bit of S&C

Random - average 15 again. Glutes getting the hang of it - it's amazing what a bit of scooter does to your pace :-)

Beautiful ride in the peaks with Becky and Andy. I like this whole BST time lightness in the evening.

My White Pissei kit got its second ever outing it was that dry!! Pretty much no niggles :-)

Cross Trainer 30:00 [2] 2.37 mi (12:40 / mi) +1348m 4:34 / mi

En route back from uni stopped off to try the cross trainer.
30mins on random average level 15/25 (didn't have anything to base this on)
Concentrated on engaging glutes.

If there is as much climb as it states then I'll be a world class mountain runner in no time ;-)
