Rest Oclock tomorrow!
8 AM

Mountain Biking 49:32 [3] 5.97 mi (7.2 mph) +395m

So, I may not be able to run but I can still bike. Accelerate Training Day. Me and Tom - both fresh (?) from inter counties (Tom having come 3rd in the junior men and on the winning Yorkshire junior team - a better day at the office for him!) rode this section together. TT from Rivelin Valley to Stanage pole via a bit of an up/down route. Went reasonably hard but legs weren't really in a state for TT. Fastest time by 10mins so pleased with that.

Mountain Biking 2:01:34 [2] 21.9 mi (10.8 mph) +640m

XPD pace ride. From Stanage Pole down to plantation, up the road and over to burbage bridge, back past stanage, Down to Hathersage then up to Fox House, Blacka Plantation and back to Rivelin via Sandygate. Tom got the hang of the descents by the end...his second ever outing on a MTB. He can however ride up hills effortlessly. My legs didn't enjoy hills so I dropped to the granny ring and twiddled away. True XPD stylee
2 PM

Mountain Biking 1:03:46 [2] 7.38 mi (6.9 mph) +285m

Passed on the 75min run section. No way I could run. Joined Neil Shona Ben and Tom for the last section of 2 people run, 2 people bike - find the most efficient way of getting around. Mainly Shona and Tom Ran while Neil and Ben biked carrying extra bags where possible. (me biking all). 1 puncture pit stop included in the time.

Was great to watch Neil give shona a backy on the descents towards the end whilst carrying two rucksacks!

Running race 25:00 [4] 2.71 mi (9:14 / mi) +230m 7:18 / mi

Shining Tor Inter Counties. This was a race of two 'halves'. Set off feeling a bit tired in the legs. The rest of the Derbyshire women beasted off and I was 4th counter for about 300m, at which point I had worked my way to first counter and was running well up the first climb, again around Helen Fines - nice to see some consistency there :-).
Around the place where the gate you come through on the way back is I felt something in my back tighten a bit and must have slowed down a bit because Liz, Claire and Rachel all came back past in the next 100m. I stayed on their tail across Cats Tor but on the descent suddenly lost a lot of ground. My back was tight, knee was all over the place, I don't think I could engage R glutes at all (over worked a bit in the last week or so) and my achillies was hurting. All illusion from last weekend that I am fixed out of the window and I decided it was time to jog.

Running race 48:36 [2] 4.79 mi (10:09 / mi) +303m 8:29 / mi

I decided to carry on jogging and ask the next marshall how many women to count for a team as I couldn't remember if it was 3 or 4 and didn't want to stop the other 3 who were all running well from having a counting team. The next marshall didn't know, neither did either of the next 2. I ran slowly over Shining Tor and the next hill then walk jogged down the hill. Walked most of the next climb - runners streaming past left right and centre. Managed a reasonable attempt at a jog again for the last descent then attempted to outsprint Dave Bowen who hasn't been ahead of me for a couple of years, from 30m behind up the dam wall - almost...
Good entertainment for the spectators. Finished 48/60....Possibly all time record low result! 2mins slower than when I ran it as an U18...

And I have just seen my time from the slightly shorter course that is normally run (about 800m shorter?) from 2010 - 55:22...so rather disappointed with this race. Me and intercounties do not have a good track record.

Note

ah, yes, the 3000m climb in the last 7 days is probably why my legs are tired...
4 PM

Mountain Biking 8:30 [2] 1.32 mi (9.3 mph) +53m

Ride over to crosspool to pick up car
6 PM

Mountain Biking 1:57:53 [3] 19.44 mi (9.9 mph) +582m

Dark and White Trail Quest from Belper. Legs pretty tired from the weekend so took it fairly easy. All but 5 controls, 3 points behind first lady and probably had enough time to get a 15 pointer instead of my final 10pointer as I took an extended route to the finish to avoid a dog.
A good couple of rough descents.
