Running 43:16 [2] 4.7 mi (9:12 / mi) +90m 8:41 / mi
Bit of a leg stretch exploring some (not so obvious) paths around burneside. A couple of improvements to the loop to be made but there's a good easy 3+ and 4+ mile loop there I think.
I've managed to put in a lot of training aiming at the BG this year and have plans in place for the 25th July - 2 weeks ago I knew I'd nailed it, uphills were easy (by uphills I mean things like a trot up Helvellyn, or fairfield).
Over the last 2 weeks things became a little less easy as I expected with having a big last week of climb in preparation.....now I've sat still and really noticed something I didn't want to. This week last year was blisco dash and kentmere, two races I felt surprisingly bad in. Without even running this week, I've noticed the same and think there is a strong link to pollen.
The end result is breathing difficulties again, it felt like I was being strangled for the duration of this run. I'm cramming in the antihistamines, nasal spray and montelukast and hoping things pick up as although muscularly I am now well and truly prepared, I can't control whether this will be another ITERA where breathing is concerned and if it is, my aspirations need to be downgraded as the mental component of the BG will become a lot harder!
On the plus side, there was a pace I could still cruise along at comfortably (bar the feeling of a blockage in my throat) but I don't know if this will be fast enough for plan A. All I can do is start and run to how it feels, will be a little gutted if breathing is the limiting factor yet again, maybe in future I should just stop all activity around the start of July and pick it up again mid September.....
