Running 1:24:41 [3] 6.3 mi (13:26 / mi) +611m 10:20 / mi

Johnny's leg 5 to Newlands. He wasn't fuelling so well by now, so I kept handing him things regardless. Never mind the lack of fuel, when told there was a possibility he could beat his friend Scott's time, the 6minute miles came out!
Duncan, why did you have to tell him?

Storming end to the round, finishing in 19:20!

BG support over for the year!

Running 3:22:15 [3] 12.7 mi (15:55 / mi) +1537m 11:34 / mi

No BGs then 3 come along at once!

Well, almost. Johnny's go and I repayed the favour from mine on Leg 1. 21 hr schedule meant no slacking but what a lovely night to be out. Johnny doing a masterful job at fueling all the way.

Summited Blencathra slightly up on schedule then headed for the parachute descent. Whilst measuring the distance to the top I tripped over/ booted a boulder. Not good as Johnny's only support. As we started to descend it was obvious I wasn't going to keep up, so I threw the bag to Johnny and carried on carefully. Not quite the beautiful line me and RFR had found....well, not until half way down anyway.

Foot and ankle not good, then had the worst moment of the night. As I'd thrown the bag to Johnny I'd taken out the battery for my head torch and was running with it in hand. Hit the stream and started trotting as I was now able to on the flatter ground. Suddenly stumbled and dropped the battery. Total darkness!

No idea how but I felt around until I somehow found it, thank god for that! It was pitch black. Caught Johnny who had slowed to check I made it off the hill and we ran in together. How I ran that over 15mins quicker with it feeling easy I will never know.

Running 6:32:04 [2] 16.6 mi (23:37 / mi) +1675m 17:59 / mi

RFR takes on the BG! Me and Rhys out on leg 3. At Dunmail Rhys said 'I don't mind being pack mule if you want to nav'....lookin at the clag I thought he was a better bet and took the kit!

RFR in good spirits for 4am, I got the chatter on and off we went! Time dropped on all the early splits but I wasn't concerned, I've looked at the automatic generator times before and they think the pace is going to go crazy slow on the rocks/leg 4 and 5, thus making the start of leg 3 quite fast to hit. I kept a tally on the time but didn't mention it. By the time we reached pike o stickle though we were edging an hour down on the 23hr schedule so I dropped back to Rhys and said we needed to stop loosing time.....Rach saw this and without a word said, upped the pace to rival my 18hr schedule to Rossett pike and blencathra! Almost half the time lost retrieved and on a mission. Legend! Arrived in Wasdale after an eventful broad stand in wet slidey conditions pretty much bang on. Go Rach!
3 PM

Running 2:12:34 [2] 6.4 mi (20:43 / mi) +590m 16:06 / mi

Rhys was too nervous to run, but I couldn't not.....Sargent major time on Leg 5. Rach's knee was an issue at this point, fine for ups, really not fine for downs.

We got around to Robinson and I got the ultimatum out 'you've got enough time Rach, but you've got to run off Robinson'. Drawing on my own experience of how long it takes to not run off Robinson....

Swearing ensued but as ever Rach stepped it up and ran through the pain to finish within the 24hours! I don't think I've ever been as emotionally invested in somebody finishing the BG!! Woooo!

Helm reps. Took 4/6 reps to warm breathing up after almost choking on the second one. Clearly need to run there for warm up....

cycling 31:00 [2] 4.7 mi (9.1 mph)

Testing out Paul's swanky turbos. Warm up.

cycling 20:00 [3] 3.4 mi (10.2 mph)
shoes: Specialized Gerolsteiner

FTP test....hmmm got it all a bit wrong and output 60w for a quarter of the test....once I changed the resistance a bit got going! Came out at 168W but given that's only 3/4 of a test probably requires another....
