Mountain Biking race 3:14:28 [2] 20.2 mi (6.2 mph) +828m
shoes: Chiru Pulse 29er

Didn't decide until we arrived at the O5, but decided to go solo so I could just go at my own pace and stop whenever I fancied. Set off and found biking better for my chest than running. Took the hills slow and made the most of my skills at riding downhill over frozen ground to make up for it. First 2hrs good then felt like I ground to a halt. So didn't sweat it and just kept plodding (quite literally walked up Hawkeshead hill).

Just a lovely day to be out. Even nicer to have lent my watch to Tom so I had no idea how long I was out and just rode where I wanted to. Turns out was about the right amount of time.

Running race 1:27:27 [1] 5.8 mi (15:05 / mi) +522m 11:47 / mi

More of a walk than a run. Set off intending on getting at least 1 control and see how I felt from there. Walking proved not to be a problem so walked most of the way up to Walna Scar and along and up to the mines. Maybe got optimistic with the control on the mines as struggled to get up there, but all downhill jogging back from there and had plenty of time so used it.

One of the most pleasant open 5s ever, stunning day and going steady meant I didn't even get DOMS!

Somehow my route choice and lack of caring how many bike:run controls I got resulted in me winning the female solo with a score that would have won the pairs. As I pointed out to Rosemary, this didn't show what would have happened if we'd raced together, I would have had to push harder uphill and she would not have enjoyed my descending....and there is no way either of us would have agreed to such a short run if we'd done it first. Hopefully back to being a pair by Feb!

Running 1:34:49 [1] 6.4 mi (14:49 / mi) +250m 13:13 / mi

Helm Fancy Dress Run - Scar dressed as an elf because I think my santa dress bit the dust on an MTB ride last year.

Bit of a test out for tomorrow, I don't think I'll be going much faster and I'm not sure it'll be fast enough to be a pair.

Upping the ante, an actual run with a runner (and a good one at that)! Steady away out over hutton roof with Sabs. Half an hour in I think I was done, but made it back! Not too much of a coughing mess afterwards :-)
