Los Gatos (8:30am) - Dammit Run. Finish 2nd in M65 (of 9), 100th of 246 men, 131 of 429 overall. Cool and overcast. Hadn't planned to run hard, but the first (flat) mile felt very easy (even though split was faster than last year), so really pushed up the hills. Then, having invested that energy, ran past more people on the downhills. Over the last half mile, pushed to catch a few more. Couldn't have gone much faster; reasonably pleased with the result. HOWEVER: very sore later; I really shouldn't push that hard on these hilly races.

Cool down, on grass infield. First, a very slow 5 min jog immediately after finishing, then after some walking and talking, a slightly faster 7 min jog.

Front of house. Sunny, cool (62), nice running weather. Still dragging a bit (now taking antibiotics for my infection), so my run wasn't intended to be much more than an extended warmup.

Kept the pace even on the last lap, too. Each lap was faster than the corresponding lap on Tuesday. Could've easily run two more, but with the very hilly Dammit Run on Saturday, want to give my legs a chance to get some life back in them.

Nearly the whole shebang, though I had to cut short the squeeze-the-rubber-ball-between-your-knees exercise because it was aggravating some soreness.

Front of house. With the extra day off, hoping for a good run today, but still feeling weak and now my hamstrings feel tight. So, stick to the relatively flat front-of-house loops, hoping for 4 miles but figuring maybe 3. Soon as I started, even 3 seemed like it was going to be a struggle. On the 5th lap, started feeling a little better, so went for a 6th. Could've done a 7th (and completed 4 miles) but given how lousy I've been feeling, figured best not to overdo it, so stopped there.
