Paso Nogal (Pleasant Hill). Ran the 3.2/180 Brown course (set by Geoman) from the Jan 26 training event. No controls, put I feel pretty certain I found the correct feature (some doubt about #4). Lovely day, mostly sunny, high 60's, light breeze, the hills are all green, ground is soft and fun to run on, no nasty vegetation. Felt like a slug, especially on the uphills, but (with the exception of #2) navigated very well and did very little stopping. Made about a 1:20 error on #2, changing my plan in the middle of the leg and then somewhat forgetting what I was doing before getting it straight. On #4, lost :10 - :15 trying to ascertain which tree was the correct one.
A fine day of training. Wish I could do something like this once a week instead of once or twice a year.
Climb was listed as 180m; I'd agree with that for a strong hill climber. For my intended route, going around some hills in a few places, it was more like 165, though with my mistake on #2 I did 180 anyway. However, my Garmin only got 125m climb, quite different.
Hadn't seen the
results beforehand, but I see now that mine fits in nicely, not too far behind the people I'd expect to be behind, ahead of everyone I'd expect to be ahead of.
My route on QuickRoute. Still haven't figured out how to set up the toggle between the map with the route and the map without it.
