Orienteering (Forest running) 25:23 [4] 2.13 mi (11:55 / mi)
shoes: Salomon SC3 Bl/Bl 3

Local terrain and jeep trail next door. Really wacked out from house hunting and severe lack of sleep. After being foggy all day, sun came out late afternoon and I wanted to get out there. Tried to not push it, still managed a decent pace and a good workout.

Warm up on jeep trail. Splits are for two laps at a time, 0.44 mi:
453, 438 (Tot: 931)

To woods loop start: 32

Forest running:
3 x [1 x house + [2 x woods loop]]: 525, 511, 444 (Tot: 1520)

Today was supposed to be the Deer Creek Hills one-day NRE by GCO. That event was my idea, and I shepherded it through the Sanctioning Committee, but it needed to be postponed to mid-May due to flooding. I was very disappointed when that happened earlier this week, but it turned out to be just as well because I never would have been able to get there today.

Stretching 4:00:00 [2]

Usual weekly accumulation of morning exercises. Not quite a full slate each morning, but close.

Note
(rest day)

More stress (house hunting analysis) than rest.

Note
(rest day)

In San Anselmo, looking at Greenfield house. Exhausting day leading to very poor sleep at night.

Running (Easy distance plus) 33:22 [3] 3.52 mi (9:29 / mi)
shoes: Salomon SC3 Bl/Bl 3

Jeep trail next door. 49 degrees, misty, but no wind so not too bad.

Didn't really have a plan when I went out (the NRE scheduled for Saturday at Deer Creek Hills just got postponed), pretty early on decided I'd go for 16 laps and keep the pace moderate, but started feeling better halfway through, and though I tried to keep in under wraps, got going pretty fast at the end, around 8:30 for the last mile.

Splits are for two laps at a time, 0.44 miles:
445, 428, 419, 409, 403, 401, 354, 340

[Easy distance plus]

Running warm up/down 6:15 [2] 0.4 mi (15:37 / mi)
shoes: Salomon SC3 Bl/Bl 3

Cool down.

Orienteering race 22:42 [4] * 2.5 mi (9:05 / mi) +135m 7:47 / mi
spiked:7/7c shoes: Yellow Falcons

Shell Ridge. Golden Goat, but I went up there to help at WY starts, and also to try out my brand new SI Air. Temp in the 70's, felt warmer.

Ran the Yellow course, which was very easy navigationally but very physical. Side-hilling through tall grass from 2 to 3 proved too tiring because of the grass.

Route choice error going from 1 to 2. #1 was so close to the start, that I had practically reached before finding the start triangle on the map, so I took the first route I saw, without realizing until it was too late that going back through the start would have been faster.

Glad I tried out the SI Air. Took a few controls to get used to the sound. Forgot to check to see whether it was flashing, though. Great fun to run by controls without stopping :)

Chuck finished :42 ahead of me. (The much younger) Jason Reed and Erica Reed were 3 minutes ahead.

4 minute warm up, but not logging that. Really tired from several days of not sleeping well.
