Walking 33:00 [2] 1.67 mi (19:45 / mi)
shoes: Kayanos 24 White

San Anselmo. Intermittent showers, but we catch a little sun in a walk up to the start of the dirt road on the hill behind us.

Went out early this morning for some more groceries, but now we're planning to stay home for quite a while to join in voluntary lockdown to try to flatten the curve for corona virus infections.

Only six days ago, I was reluctant to suggest that Tuesday's BAOC Board Meeting be held over zoom rather than in person, and only two days ago I was struggling over whether to suggest that tomorrow's Joe Grant meet be postponed - and I did make those suggestions, and other people readily agreed, and those actions were taken, but, yeesh, it seems so obvious now that those were the right decisions, and yet at the moment it was difficult to make those decisions.

Stretching 3:45:00 [2]

The usual weekly accumulation of morning exercises. Couple of days where I had almost no time, but the other days were pretty close to full sets. Left shoulder is still hurting, so not doing weights with my left arm.

11 AM

Running (Easy distance minus) 15:00 [2] 1.2 mi (12:30 / mi)
shoes: Speedcross 5

Phoenix Lake. As of yesterday, this would have been an easy 1 - 1.5 mile run to just loosen up for Sunday's J.Grant meet. But I spent the morning advocating for the postponed of that event in the face of the pandemic, and so it wasn't clear what my purpose was today, and I was just terribly tapped out. All the aches that I usually just power through just were too much for me today (shoulder, knee, quads), and it was warm but very windy and I was altrernating between being hot and cold - and just couldn't mount any sort of decent run. Jogged for about 15 minutes altogether, with walking in between.

Afterwards went to the (usually mellow) Good Earth Market and it was teeming with people buying tons of stuff. Felt very uncomfortable.

Note
(rest day)

Phoenix Lake. L walked around the lake, I just went up there and sat in the shade and read a book. Much needed rest for my legs.

Walking 1:45:00 [2] 4.7 mi (22:20 / mi) +200m 19:44 / mi
shoes: Speedcross 5

Yolonda loop, starting and ending at the parking lot. Quite warm. L and I walked pretty casually. An awful lot easier walking this loop than running it.

Got out late after some logistical snafus caused us to go all the way back home and then back.

Concerns over COVID-19 dominating everything.

Running (Easy distance) 48:12 [3] 4.2 mi (11:29 / mi)
shoes: Speedcross 5

Phoenix Lake. Quite warm. Long wait for a spot, so L went ahead and I never quite caught up.

Did the usual run up to the second bridge, starting from the parking lot, but on the way back, cut around the back side of the lake and went all the way around, finishing at the usual start.

I'd been reluctant to run on the back side of the lake trail because there are stairs and roots, but it was nice and shady and really, that kind of broken up running is closer to what I need for orienteering anyway.

Distance is a guess.

Out and back run. Read down the first column for splits on the way out, then up the second column for splits on the way back.

Phoenix Lake usual start -- 405
----------------------------------- (600)
Jct with trail around lake -- 1005 ---- 2622
----------------------------------- (125) ---- (127)
Phoenix Junction ----------- 1130 ---- 2455
----------------------------------- (517) --- (413)
Hidden Meadow Trail ------ 1647 --- 2042
----------------------------------- (159) --- (155)
Second bridge -------------------- 1847

Continuing around lake counterclockwise:
445 trail across stream meets the main trail
1017 bottom of stairs
107 junction with Allen Trail
446 finish at usual start

Walking 25:00 [2] 1.25 mi (20:00 / mi)

Phoenix Lake. After plumber and before guitar playing. Really wasn't any time, but it was a lovely day and we just needed to get out.
