Limantour Beach, Pt. Reyed Nat'l Seashore. Hiked from the beach parking lot a little south, then north nearly to the end of the spit. We were just about at the end (100m to go) when there was a beached elephant seal ahead and we decided we shouldn't disturb it. Full sunshine made it feel a good deal warmer than the air temp of 50 degrees. Afterwards we had lunch on the beach, but then the wind picked up and we headed home.

Bon Tempe. Sunny and pleasant. Didn't get started until practically Noon.

Started where the Forman Trail meets Sky Oaks. Ran the Red course from December, in reverse order, from #28 through #9. Definitely created a lot of unfamiliarity. Had to read the map at least some on every leg, and quite a bit on a few of them. Overall, probably a bit too physical for a training day. The stats for this "course" would have been 3.8 km, 200 m climb, 20 controls.

Only mistake came (naturally) on the Hillside of Death. Thought I recognized the small redwood circles near the trail, but I actually I was wrong and so wound up cutting in maybe 50m too soon, and took a while to figure it out. Lost about two minutes. Also, wander a little as I approached #10.

Bon Tempe. For some variation, decided to go around the lake in the opposite (clockwise) direction. Surprising how different it was, in terms of views and in terms of knowing where to step to deal with the various turns and roots in the ground.

Tried to get out early to beat the crowds, though there were still a lot of people out there. It was supposed to be above 50 by 9am (high of 70 later), so that made it easier to plan an early run.

Due to a variety of circumstances, decided to cut it short a bit at the end, so took the Forman Trail rather than the Pine Pt Trail, and kept going until I got over 3 miles.

(114) 2025 - pump house on Sunnyside Trail via lakeshore across spillway (water was even higher than two days ago, had to go across concrete spillway)

(555) 3501 - road, then Forman; split at little bridge at the end
(34) 3535 - finish at the meadow sign
