5 minute mistake on #4.... which is really bad for a sprint. It was a control in a wooded area on a small hill, with a lot of bare rock, and I wasn't paying attention going from easy street running to detailed forest navigating. I went up around the cliff and headed to the right of the control and missed it, then ended up thinking I was in a different place and was like a beheaded chicken for a while.

Middle- I started out really great, I was moving fast and having a clean race and felt comfortable and could do that the whole race, but around control number 5 my back started hurting a lot(I think it was from days of biking and maybe having to bend). I messed up #7 by wasting time in the circle going to other controls. From there I had to slow down a little in the woods since my back hurt when I would move it too much.

Mostly clean race, some confusing points but I was on track and going in the right place. Just one bad move where I didn't cross over to the correct trail right away and it slowed me down. I was moving pretty slow in some of the woods and the marshes were slow because the moss was very squishy.

Fun hike. A lot of bare rock with chains attached to use to pull yourself up/go down. Also muddy, so the studded shoes were very helpful. Cloudy and drizzling. Hiked to a point where a rock was stuck in between two cliffs and you could stand on it but we didn't try in the rain.

Checked out the two warm up controls, there was a short downhill run to the start which got me going.
The bathrooms at the start were not what you'd expect; a tent with four boxes that had holes cut in them...

Felt pretty good physically, and even with the rain, the weather wasn't so bad. I had 2 small mistakes- going to #2 I was just a little to the right of the control and a small bobble later where I looked for the control a bit early.
I made a big mistake at 12, I went too low and was looking along the wrong contour until I finally went back up and found it.
