| Street event out at QEII. Quads very sore now, felt sore after about 5mins and got worse the longer I ran. Very flat course and I got a bit sick of the route I chose. It seemed to have lots of running between controls and not that much navigation/route choice. | ||

| Long Bays bunch ride then up to top of Mt Pleasant with Chris and then down and along the flat back home. Was feeling quite good on the ride but my back started to feel a little bit stiff after 2hrs. Was fine after a rest at Chris' place. | ||

| Orienteering out at Quail Island. Was supposed to be a 90min score but ended up taking less time. Was lots of fun, each control marked on the map contained a map with more controls marked on it. Made route choice a bit more challenging.
Had fastest time but didn't dress up so didn't win. | ||

| Up Dyers and along the top to Gebbies then along the bottom to Evans and then along the top back to SoK and down. With Chris, Em and Michael. Was pretty cruisy pace apart from up Evans which was a bit faster. | ||

| Orienteering training at Vic Park. I set out the course, it was map memory and quite a tough course really. Lots of fun setting it out though and most people seemed to enjoy it. | ||

| Street event around Cashmere. Lots of hard running but poor route choice meant I was running over the same ground several times. Slightly sore shins today from all the fast downhill running. My fancy new road running shoes were really good though. | ||

| Long bays bunch ride. Was pretty easy out to Gebbies, fast speed but tail wind. Then the normal thrashing around the bays. Managed to keep up with a bunch the whole way to the start of Evans then got dropped. There were 2-3 who were in front of our little bunch of 5 though. Then along the tops to SoK and back down and home.
The bays felt easier this time, not sure if it was because of the slower pace at the start or if it was being in the bunch or maybe that I am a bit more rested. | ||

| Long bays with Em, her dad and his CtC partner. Was pretty cruisy with the tail wind along the flat then a nasty head wind into Gebbies, was struggling to get anywhere near 20km/h on this section then around the bays to Evans. Chris turned up part way along too. Then up Evans along the top to Mt Pleasant and down via Em's place. Then back along the flats home.
Need to eat more, no breakfast and only 2 museli bars isn't enough, died a little bit in the last 15mins to home. | ||

| Long Bays bunch ride, quite slow out to Gebbies then fast until I gave up round by Cass Bay and waited on Em and Michael, then we cruised from there up to Evans and then along to the top of Mt Pleasant. The others headed down and I continued along the tops to SoK and then down. About the same length but a bit more climbing. Felt good but should have had my last leppin much sooner, I waited until going down Dyers when I should have had it at the top of Mt Pleasant. | ||

| Training out at Bottle Lake. Lots of controls close together, made some mistakes:
1) Didn't slow down enough near a control and then got slightly lost. 2) Not reading the terrain in the control circle correctly. 3) Trying to run straight out in the open areas through the thick stuff. Was okay nav but pretty slow and hard going. | ||

| Orienteering training out at Woodend went quite well but not very good map contact at some points but seemed to work out okay, mostly due to luck I think though. Got to focus on attack points a bit more as that was part of the problem on those legs. | ||

Saturday Jan 12 | ||

| Some Papo training at Canty Uni. Did a very short sprint course, maybe 1km. Then did some map memory stuff. Then did a 3.6km (I think) sprint course around Uni. Went okay apart from a few silly mistakes, not really paying quite enough attention and a bit indecisive at times though.
Was super hot, 34 degrees or so and it felt it. | ||

| Went bodyboarding at the beach for a couple of hours, great waves when I got them. Was the only way to keep cool today. | ||

| Dyers Pass time trial followed by ride along the tops out to Sumner and then back to bottom of Dyers with a nice tail wind. Pretty fast pace up Dyers but slower after that. Went with Cris, Chris and Michael.

| From Clare's up Dyers and then back down to my place. Pretty cruisy pace up Dyers. Started to rain on the way down too. | ||

| Long Bays bunch ride. Was going well until Rapaki Bay and then realised I wasn't going to be able to catch up to the bunch again. Was climbing okay but seemed to be losing time to people on the flats at the top of the hills and then on the downhills. Was about 3mins back at the top of Evans I think. Felt pretty good except for the lack of energy in my legs.
Was pretty easy pace at the start and end of ride but hard from bottom of Gebbies to top of Evans. | ||

| Round the block from my parents place, about 5-6km. Using new road running shoes, slightly sore arches, not sure if it's the shoes or my lack of road running. Felt pretty tired and stiff for the first 15mins, definitely need to do more running training! | ||

| Short Bays with Michael and Cris. Was slow time as we had two flats and another stop. About 30mins of stops probably. Was supposed to be an easy ride but felt pretty hard coming back into the wind from Sumner. Felt dead in the afternoon. Will have a rest day tomorrow. | ||
