Back from a week of fieldwork; recovering from slight cold.

Score at Cademuir. Only controls visited in ascending order of value counted. Time judgement throughout the race becomes more critical - can I fit in another 20-pointer before moving on to the 30-pointers? Good fun.

KB-Craigmillar-Holyrood Park-KB. Light rain, cool, breeze. Good, steady run with a few pushy bits to get HR up to about 80-85% max.

Off for a week on fieldwork tomorrow.

Pushed it along a bit this evening and felt pretty whacked at the end. Being very hot and sweaty in the gym didn't help.

This was a fantastic day. Five hours riding at Glentress with Andrew, Phil, Matt and Emma - up, down and round about with lots of skills practice. Damp at first but gloriously sunny in the late afternoon.

Blackford Hill CATI. Apart from getting some useful exercise this was awful - so overgrown. Had to retreat at four controls and attack again.

Easy run through Penicuik Est to Lowry's Den woods then 10x75s hill reps. Jog home. Intensity 3 overall.

Got ready for a run and then the heavens opened - I mean really opened. Wimped out of the run, put on full waterproofs instead and went for a brisk walk through the floods. Ace.

Fitted in a short ride before today's dose of rain. Still had slicks on from the Rat Race so just explored some country roads and made a quick visit to the Pentlands.

Croeso Day 6. Hard going today. Very wet and windy and a map with a maze of brown contours criss-crossed by red lines, which I found v. diff. to read. Only fouled up briefly on one when the concentration went, but was clearly slow over the ground.

Croeso Day 5. Felt strong with the running but one catastrophic nav. error on the long leg put me way down the field. Typical, it was obvious the long leg was going to be the hardest and tried to really concentrate on the navigation, but lost it when I switched from running on the compass to relying on the contours and then made a parallel error.
