Today was like swimming in a jacuzzi as everyone took advantage of the last day before a three-week pool closure.

6 Days training at Pitmedden. Busier today, with quite a cosmopolitan turnout. Jogged round two-thirds of the controls before knocking off.

6 Days training at Craig a'Barns. Felling hear and there has made some of this super area pretty grotty but there is still plenty of great terrain.

6 Days training event at Tentsmuir S. Made some deliberately difficult route choices to increase the training content. Felt really tired, but had been standing around for four hours "coaching" others: "coaching" because they didn't need much advice from me.

Did some maintenance on the bike, including new chain, then went for a fairly leisurely ride through Lowry's Den woods and Penicuik Estate, back via newspaper shop.

Just walking and stretching yesterday. Now away on business, but the hotel has a gym, so some rowing and treadmill to get moving again after the weekend.

Rat Race Nine-to-Five cycling in and around Edinburgh visiting various challenges. After last night's efforts we had high hopes but several setbacks (largely mechanical) put paid to that and we finished half way down the field. Still, great fun.

Edinburgh Rat Race Mean Streets score event with challenges at several of the CPs, with Lorna and Mark. Very good run, finishing 15/186 and spot on the 2h30 allowed. I was cramping up at the end and need to take on more fluids during runs like this.

Great morning at Glentress - sunny, warm, dry, carrot cake and cappuccino. Mainly the Blue but with bits of Red and some skills, just to have a nice easy run before the RR next weekend. I'd forgotten how nice the Blue is. Bike in much better shape after some TLC last weekend.

Last one of the Edinburgh Urban O series, and it went out with a bang! Great course, Rocky. It's not surprising everyone's eulogising over the housing estate bit: the estate was not on a regular grid, there were a lot of more open areas of odd shapes, and the course was planned with a lot of direction changes and varied leg length. You really had to slow down to survive here.

Rest day yesterday - just a bit of walking.
Still feeling a bit stiff today. 30 min on the bike, 20-25 min S&C, 5-10 min stretching.

Score runs around all 7 ESOC permanent courses in Edinburgh - about 130 controls. Lot of time wasted looking for vandalised posts and fighting through undergrowth. Knackered.

Now that the Commy Pool is closed for refurb it's madness in the smaller pools. Even the uni pool was nose-to-tail.

Hot evening for the latest in the Edinburgh Urban O series, and everyone struggling for speed/fluids/brainpower. The grass of Braidburn Pk was a pleasant break from pounding the streets. So, sluggish run, one or two route choices perhaps not optimal, and usual loss of a few seconds spotting the kite and punch at several of the controls, but overall happy with the run. A persistent L hamstring niggle responded to a liberal application of Deep Heat, although suppose it wasn't really needed with temps hovering around 30C.
