| Turnfest Menzingen. Took part in the sprint, ball throwing and 1000m. Had a very good competition day even tough the heat was killing us. The track for the 1000m wasn't much to get excited about. a roundcourse through a field with an short uphill and some downhill. But the worst part was that it had lots of cracks in it. Nevertheless I started confident running just behind FB. It was hard to run straight afterward as you couldn't see where you step, so a small gap was a better plan to avoid the cracks and the holes. In the second round FB slowed down and I took the initiative on the uphill. Great feeling, this has not been the case for a very long time. Well already half way trough the third round I could feel that now it will get tough. not surprisingly FB saved some energy for the last round and overtook me with ease. I tried to press every energy out of my body and corssed the line in 2:43:67. An amazing improvement of my PB of more than 4 seconds and the last time was run on a track.
This was all very suspicious and afterwards we engaged in some discussions about the true lenght of the course. It seems very probable that it was short of about 40m. Nevertheless even with some additional seconds the time on this track, given the circumstances would have also been very good. I will keep this time in good memory but that PB remains at 2:47,6 and I'll have another try next friday in Huttwil. But it will be even harder as this will be the fifth disciplin.

| short run in the forest, in order to see if my ankle is holding up, as I twisted it last Sunday. The ankle was ok but speed was on the slow side, eventhough my heart rate was rather high. maybe I'm not training enough (well at the moment not at all...).
Luckily I don't have an orienteering scheduled in the near future, so my ankle will get stronger, I don't think it would have survived a cross session. But nevertheless I'm a bit concerned with my lack of training-motivation, especially when I have the LMM coming up next friday. I will have to design a cunning plan to get back in shape :-) |

| not really sure if I should be happy or not. too many inaccuracies (3,9,11,12,14,17 &19) and two major mistakes at ctrl. 2+4. in addition I tried to cut the corners which actually never was a good idea. best times at 6,8 and 10.
DS won in 38 high. |
