 | Weight training 1:00:00 [3] | |
| shoes: NB ABZORB EX 12 |
| A mix of weight exercises including squats, curling, dead lifts, leg curls, and a wide assortment of core exercises focusing on abs and obliques. No aerobic activity today due to an oversight.
I found a delightful machine on which from a standing position, the hips and above are held stationary. You then rotate at the hip and lift your leg to a horizontal position. The difficulty is controlled by the location of the pivot - you can move it along your thigh; if the pivot is closer to your knee, it is much easier.
I'm fairly tall and relatively bulky, so in most abdominal exercises like crunches, my moment is high. My abs are not particularly strong, and I struggle to do more than 32 crunches at a time. I really enjoyed using this standing ab machine. |

 | Treadmill 25:40 [3] 5.59 km (4:35 / km) | |
| shoes: NB ABZORB EX 12 |
| A warm up run on the treadmill before weights. I suppose since it constituted about half the duration of my workout, it no longer can be described as "warm up." A feature of the treadmill I find frustrating is the lack of ventilating air flow. When you run, bike, or especially ski outdoors, a steady flow of air convects heat and evaporates perspiration. On a static aerobic device, you swelter, especially if, as was the case today with me, the shirt you are wearing is loose. |
 | Weight training 30:00 [3] | |
| shoes: NB ABZORB EX 12 |
| Bench presses, curling, shoulders, and core. A light workout to prepare my body for the strain of routine strength training. Peak was 2 x 10 reps x 155 lbs on bench press, and a paltry 30 crunches on the inclined torture device. |
