Lovely day pnce up north but had to spend the majority of the 3h before the race sat in the shade behind a building to avoid wrecking myself.

Creag dubh British/Scottish champs race. 33rd. Fin W 26:49

Just really pleased to be back in a race. Got through the obstacles alright and settled into a tempoey effort on the climb, sitting behind groups to save a bit of energy before getting past when I felt the need, feeling alright. Pleased that descending is still there (last time I did so in anger probably last September at Cautley) and railed it with Lova right witn me, closing on groups then trying to sneak past them and leave him behind the slower runners. Hit the track at the bottom of the descent and as the gradient eased it was suddenly like I was standing still and lost a few places including Lova, Will B and v55 Mark Roberts. The steep bank and river saw me claw back (some fell/hill runners can't seem deal with fell/hill terrain!) and once back in to the show field I had the kick to gain back a few places I'd lost from other people, including gubbing Murray 50m from the line.

Just pleased not to be shit! Team 4th on day behind Keswick, DP and Shettleston, but enough to (we think, this is 1am 3 pint algebra) hold DP off for a British Championship silver. 31mins work and a medal, least deserved ever? But made it well worth the 10h round trip.
