| Note | ||
| slept:9.0 (sick) | ||
| Developed a cold last night, that developed into a mahoosive whoorish cold today. Felt very shafted, and asn't helped by the leccy not working this morning. However, spending all day in a cold church singing Mozart seems to have sorted me out a little bit. Still feel crap, but better than this morning | ||
| C • doesn't seem that bad to me... 3 | ||

| Running race (Grin 'n Bear It) 2:33:59 [4] 15.5 mi (9:55 / mi) +594m 5:31 / km | ||
| slept:7.0 shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330 'O' | ||
| Wanted a fairly easy route for my first long Fell Race. It may have cost quite a bit to enter, but it went to a good cause and there was lots of food :D. The race went really quickly - I looked at my watch a few minutes into the bog and was suprised to see I'd been going for 50mins! The 'Bog Monster' wasn't as bad as expected, and neiter was the weather - It was fairly windy and a bit chilly, but you could see where you were going and it wasn't raining. Heading towards the old cross I had a tail-wind and got excited which resulted in a bit of a muddy faceplant...
Gaz was about 100-200m behind me until the food stop at Woodhead road where I had to wait for traffic and he caught me up, but then he had to sort his bumbag out, so I was ahead across the fields (including a detour across a fence...) and down the road. He caught me about 1k into the Trail, which I was grateful for as I needed someone to run with or I'd've slowed right down, but once we turned off the trail onto the fields I slowed. Had to wait at the road to cross again, and through the forest was slow, but overall I thoroughly enjoyed it and got a nice certificate which is now on my wall :p A good intro to longer distances, and I feel it dd me some good - even if it was just to use up the pasta I ate last night...
| Note | ||
| Music that went through my head: mostly a few good folk tunes, some Dropkicks, but, perversly, "Genie in a Bottle" by Christina Agulera.
Still, better than Gaz's "my body's too bootylicious for ya baby"
Friday Oct 3 | ||
| Swimming 30:00 [2] 1 km (30:00 / km) | ||
| Went swimming. Probably the first time I'v been for a propper swim in a pool since primary school ish. Did 2 15mins/15length stints with a steam room in between, then sauna afterwards. They both didn't feel too hot... | ||
| Swimming 10:00 [2] | ||
| Aquajogging/some pootling around. | ||

| Note | ||
| (rest day) | ||
| busy day, and need to do some work before it gets on top of me.
Good news is, they were pretty pleased with me about my summer placement at Hallam, so I should have a lab project next summer! Whioch I can plan about Oringen (maybe), scottish and Aviemore!
Wednesday Oct 1 | ||
| Running warm up/down 10:00 [2] 2 km (5:00 / km) +60m 4:21 / km | ||
| shoes: Decathlon Kalenji Kapteren XT | ||
| not used these shoes in ages!
Run with Danger et Zanthe to the edge for GIAG.
| Orienteering intervals (Park O) 15:00 [4] * | ||
| spiked:7/8c shoes: Decathlon Kalenji Kapteren XT | ||
| GIAG around Endcliffe park - star relays. Ran about 4km in total. Pushed fairly hard through the session, but it was hardly orienteering as I know the park like the palm of my hand.
Did loops C+D vs faz. Beat him easily, as expected (he somehow managed to make an error to the first control on c - fool!) Then 'loop' A vs Shminty - basically a burn-off across the field. Nailed it and felt good out, but lost it coming back - field was heavy. Then loop C again vs Danger. Turning at the 2nd control was fun due to muddy slope. He seemed to ease up a bit, so I was only about 5 secs behind - but I had run the loop before (but he did plan it...) Good session - more like intervals than anything.
| Running 50:00 [3] 9.8 km (5:06 / km) +100m 4:51 / km | ||
| shoes: Decathlon Kalenji Kapteren XT | ||
| After the GIAG, from the monument in the park with Rhys, Zanthe and Shminty along the road to bingham, through the woods to the road after Forge dam, then back down, then from Endcliffe home via westborne road/broomhill/crookesmore road. Legs were annoyed on westbrne road and in protest on the home strait down bower road. Was good'n' rainy - feeding the bog monster for saturday I fear...
The only times I've had to resort to wearing my massive white tshirt for training due to lack of other kit, I've ended up at a very muddy Endcliffe Park! There were a fair few people running in white that were farr too clean. One of whom was Phil Bowen (from home and now first year here) - lucy and I are viewing him as a possible ShUOC recruit... MORE pictures of Rob's mum...
| Note | ||
| Sacking off Corp tonight. I was v excited about it, but have been shattered recently, and thought I'd make the most of my only 'lie-in' of the week (10 start a lie in? boo!) So went to the Uni arms for the session, which was good. Fiddle needs new strings though, so more money to spend... | ||
Tuesday Sep 30 | ||
| Running warm up/down 24:00 [3] | ||
| shoes: Asics somethings | ||
| Run from home to springvale road, wu loop, then long warm down after hills.
Took Barber road from lights->home quickly for shits and giggles
| Running hills 19:00 [5] | ||
| shoes: Asics somethings | ||
| Pyramids on springvale. 15,30,45,60,90,60,45,30,15.
Did the first 2 too fast, so did sensible after then. Quads felt a bit knotted to start with, but soon battered them into submission. Not bad I think considoring that I have never really done intervals/hills before due to not having the time last year...
| Note | ||
| Good job I had a mahooosive lunch: 1 and a half BLTs, and a jacket spud with a shit loada beans and chese on it. Feltvery fat in labs, but worth it :D | ||
Monday Sep 29 | ||
| Running (lunch run) 39:00 [3] 7.4 km (5:16 / km) +126m 4:51 / km | ||
| slept:8.0 shoes: Asics somethings | ||
| 1st day of lectures.
I have 2 hours between lectures and lab session, and as can't do run after circuits due to being pressed for time by singsoc, want to get as many lunch runs in as possible. Home>Bolehill Park >Walkley Cem >Rivelin to the millpond >up above long lane > Alotments >Stables > Crookes >Home via School Lane/Commonside pushed fairly hard, felt good. Harder running on own than with a group! Lunch Loop
| Running warm up/down 25:00 [2] | ||
| shoes: Asics somethings | ||
| To goodwin, warm up around AR2, Back thru the park. | ||
| Circuits 30:00 [5] | ||
| shoes: Asics somethings | ||
| 40-30 ShUOC circuits - very busy circuits. Put a lot of effort in, apart from Press-ups (liz was mocking me :( ) and Leg spread, which made my quads cramp :~s
full session with a lot of new faces. seems like the GIAGs worked :D
| Streching warm up/down 5:00 [1] | ||
| Stretch down | ||
| Note | ||
| 3 showers today - I'll be the cleanest boy in Sheffield. Unfortunatly, all my body's natural flora+fauna will be at the waste treatment works by now... | ||
