Warm up/down 12:00 [1] 2.42 km (4:58 / km)
ahr:163 max:192 slept:6.5 shoes: Inov8 Oroc 340

Trotting about, trying to get warm but no reason for the elevated hr!

Orienteering race (CSC Silton Forest) 1:20:00 [3] ***** 8.0 km (10:00 / km) +320m 8:20 / km
ahr:164 max:183 spiked:10/19c shoes: Inov8 Oroc 340

ran: 10.68km, 308m, ang. pace 7.30min/km - poor!

A lot of work needed ahead of the new season! But that was to be expected. Was never really in the right mindset today, and my legs felt pretty heavy. Fluffed the first 3 controls (1.30, 45, 30), the later partly due to iffy veg/marsh mapping but mainly due to poor contour interpretation. Went long and around to 5, muffed 6 too low/no plan (20secs), slight miss on 8. Struggled a bit in the last steep control pit, but did OK - a few heathery legs previously had got me back enjoying myself.
Schooled by many 'old men' - I think that because I'm half-descent in heathery terrain (at times) I'm the same in all terrain, but in a rougharsed plantation forest such as this I'm found lacking. Still, all good prep for BOC. (Wharncliffe'll be like a motorway compared to this!)

Map was gash.

ahr:155 max:176 slept:10.5 shoes: New Balance N1024

Just to get out of the house. All on road to protect the knee from sideways happenings. Made me feel a lot better.

Other Sport 25:00 [2]
slept:7.5 shoes: Krapsta Crapstroturf

Is there any point in me playing football? It leaves my knee twinging so can put paid to a full weekend's fun, I'm pretty poor at it, I don't really enjoy it and can get the banter by not playing, and it more often than not leaves me in a stinking mood.

In general I've been in a proper crap mood this week.

ahr:157 max:177 shoes: New Balance N1024

2(30,60,90,120,and down)
Small group. Glad of the long jog down recovery and gentle slope of hill. Cruised it mainly, pushed a bit at times but just glad to get the legs moving quicker.

Running - Road warm up/down 6:20 [1] 0.83 km (7:38 / km) +62m 5:33 / km
ahr:152 max:159 shoes: New Balance N1024

dragging my sorry ass up the hill once done.

Note
slept:7.0

I had fantastic intentions of a morning run and a lunchtime intervals session.
Woke feeling a bit pants so forwent the former.
The latter went out the window when I spent the first part of my 4hr incubation cleaning the 37deg room which I'd cleverly covered in E. coli. A mixture of the heat, the disinfectant fumes and not feeling too top-hole beforehand made the rest of lunch a write-off (did get some sleep mind).
Evening full of finishing off in lab and planning course.
trainwreck!

S&C 40:00 [3]
rhr:42 slept:7.5 shoes: New Balance N1024

Eschewed Dan and managed to get a good session in for the first time in what felt like years!

Warm up/down warm up/down 7:00 [1]
shoes: New Balance N1024

missed most of the warm up after a hefty lab day.
Was thinking about a run at some point but an extra day for the knee is prudent.
