slept:8.0 shoes: Muclaw 333 (3)

POst med-test plod round Burbage Skyline with Ash before buying XC spikes and returning north.

Made me really miss Sheffield, but eventually perked up once home.

Couple of rest weeks now then into winter training to try and maintain my upward curve.

the mother of all hangovers; plod to the start.

Orienteering race 1:22:23 [3] **** 12.4 km (6:39 / km) +351m 5:49 / km
ahr:159 max:193 spiked:21/28c shoes: Muclaw 333 (3)

22nd last year. 61st this year.
Despite feeling as rough as a badger's arse I took solace from the fact that I managed to drive out relatively safely. I enjoyed the course and, all things considered, was quite pleased with my run considering last weeks abortion and how I felt. Sloppy on 4 (no plan) and 5 (unsure) and lost 1min on both 23 and 24. Thankfully I had Karl Marshall(?) to run with from #6 which kept me going somewhat. Still lots of places to improve but promising - the 75mins of Welly/Mike would have been very doable I feel had it not been for my epic loss of inhibitions.

Warm up/down 15:01 [2] 2.6 km (5:47 / km) +48m 5:17 / km
ahr:157 max:209 slept:8.0 shoes: X-talon 212 (1)

Warming up with Dave. He said he wasn't feeling too great. Adam and Paul set us off in 18th with DP Vets. We caught HBT and a Wharfedale team and were together when we reached the maps.

Running - Trail race 1:14:24 [5] ** 12.24 km (6:05 / km) +590m 4:54 / km
ahr:172 max:191 spiked:4/7c shoes: X-talon 212 (1)

Bugger.
Both myself and Dave heard the women giving the maps reply to our 'can we take them in any order?' with 'yes'. Quite how, when DP, Wharfedale and HBT didn't I don't know. Anyway we went 1-4 before realising, losing 3 minutes in the process. At least we got to see the leaders (Rhys and John had at least 2mins lead by #4
Dave and I were well matched up the hills as I was feeling a bit tired. I had to wait a bit on the downs. All nav went to pot as I tried to make up for lost time. Thankfully the whole course was visible but that didn't stop us bananaing to 3 and being too high on 4. Overtaken by Staffs and Keswick due to our cock-up; ran away from Edinburgh Uni and were closing in the lost ground on DP Vets at the end.
Handed over in 20th but Ilkley had a beast on last leg.
Finished 21st overall, a good result but so irritating to not get the top 20 I knew we could have had and really should have had comfortably.

Note
slept:7.0

The last 2 days have started at 7.30 and fitted pretty much 2 days work into each, fairly non-stop in the fermenter hall - didn't even get the luxury of pooing on company time! Today I had to deal with the mental anguish of thinking I'd fucked up a 2.5 day experiment (time is money! but thankfully it turned out I hadn't.
tired but well up for the weekend!

Out from Hutton Village above Guisborough. A fast young lad (16) turned up today. Nice pace ahead of the weekend - felt much better than yesterday.
A loop through the woods then up to the Hanging Stone again. Then out onto the moor east of the Topping. Past 'makeout point' where we embarrassed a young couple, over Codhill , onto Gisborough moor then back through Guisborough woods via Highcliff Nab. Cracking.
Why the difference in spelling between Guis/Gisborough I don't know.
