Orienteering 57:00 [2] 7.0 km (8:09 / km)
shoes: X-talon 212 (2)

picked up a map, did some running, tried some navigating, it failed pretty dismally. Need to sort head out before JK.

around and about

Orienteering - Urban race (British Sprints Heat 1A) 16:13 [4] **** 2.6 km (6:14 / km) +25m 5:57 / km
spiked:17/23c shoes: X-talon 212 (2)

Just excited to be running fastish. No focus or thought. Didn't look at map enough and didn't take in and act upon what I saw on the ground.
#1 went right when everyone else went left (90deg error) then couldn't place myself. (40secs?)
#5 ran past it. Not too much lost but sloppy. If head wasn't already gone it was in Thirsk by now.
#20 in the prefabs. no plan of attack once over the fence. Sloppy leaving it as well (30 secs)
Several other 5secs as well. Way down.

Orienteering - Urban race 15:08 [4] **** 2.3 km (6:35 / km) +20m 6:18 / km
spiked:15/22c shoes: X-talon 212 (2)

Same as before really.
#2 round the houses (15)
#7 went in a building too early, then didn't see stairs and went left(?!) (20secs total) Ironic that at the only point I planned ahead it caused me to miss the control (then I fucked up the next few legs anyway!)
#10 no plan going into 9. Caught out 3 times down the stairs. (40secs min)
#16 left 15 on the red line - not to the bridge over the lake
#17 ran right past the big obvious building the control was on. 15secs.

So it was all pretty slapdash over the 2 races but I'm not too fussed. I'm better than this and I just need to get in the right mindset and maybe use a bit more haste less speed until nav catches up with my improved speed.

So, GSK are opening up a Manufacturing site in Ulverston (well, in 6 years time anyway). It looks like the big dilemma in a few years time could be Manufacturing vs. R&D and WhereverIambythen vs. S.Lakes

Running - Road 25:27 [2] 5.71 km (4:27 / km) +9m 4:25 / km

A group of drunks started singing 'he's sexy and he knows it' at me. Knowing I looked good, I could relax and focus on my running, and only that.

Barrage, twice over the lumps, 6x20ish sec sprints on the north side then back via Shit Venice.
Pretty sure I'm fast becoming the most regular user of the Durham Uni Sports centre's bogs.

I've just noticed 'The John Snow Campus' in the riverside. Never knew Durham University were fans of Bastards in Game of Thrones.

Knee feeling much improved. Still feel it but it's much better - not bad for a bit of stab-in-the-dark quackery (fingers crossed!).

Trying to improve muscle strength in my legs, glutes and core, based on something similar Tim from Glossopdale has: http://globaltherapies.wordpress.com/2012/03/16/hi...

I've handed my Edale entry over to Wil - there's no way 21 miles is a good idea at the moment - knee is sore today and my right leg is developing aches due to me effectivly hopping around. Try and get the legs back to normal for JK/Coledale then work on the hill fitness.
Trying to pull a 3-way switch: Wil becomes me at Edale whilst I become Ralph at Strensall. I have a feeling the later link won't be made (legally) however.

Note

Here's something to entertain you today

obviously the more camp I look going downhill the faster I go.
