Sale fell with Hannah and Boris. One of us enjoyed eating poo, drinking from puddles and chasing birds. Groin behaved - despite barely being able to walk once finishing yesterday it soon sorted itself out.

Borrowdale. 29th. Winner: Ricky (2:49:21, 118%)

Felt OK but legs not quite with it. A steady start up Besyboot and over to Esk Hause saw me reel in and pass a group with some good guys in it. Worked well over to Styled where, on the start of the Gable climb my L groin suddenly felt wonky and there was a bus-load behind me. Got up Gable gaining slightly on Pete Vale and Joe Baxter who were just ahead. Rich McGrath got ahead into Honister. The Dale Head ascent was really bad, Joe came past but him and Pete weren't too far ahead at the top. Mincy descent where Andy Jebb outlined us, got going once through the mines to take Chris Arthur, tried my hardest on the track but had feck all and was just at the back of a pack of 5.

Worst I've felt at the end of a race in a long time, so I got everything out despite a feeling of going through the motions. Not too bad considering how my legs felt but can do better. My end-of-race strength seems to have deserted me, but pleased how I was sticking with good runners near the end despite feeling whacked. Just did enough to hold off a biggish group.

Good support all the way around, especially from Hannah, did enjoy asking Winskill to spray all over my face though ;)

Round Buttermere for an ice-cream with Han and Boris. Felt ace last night on the drive up, felt tired for this.

HFW. Felt a bit wired all day but not very productive or conducive to running.
7 PM

Running - Trail 51:27 intensity: (19:19 @1) + (26:22 @2) + (3:47 @3) + (1:59 @4) 9.37 km (5:29 / km) +307m 4:43 / km
ahr:129 max:159 shoes: Brookes Cascadia 10

Popped over the hill to drop bike off and spectated Cracken Edge with Mark and Holly.

Looked like one of the best fields in a peaks evening race for a long while - on the men's side at least. Andi Jones, Alasdair Campbell, Math Roberts, John and Steve Franklin and Rob Little (although he had to 'stop to enjoy the view'). Women's field no cop at all.

ahr:152 max:165 slept:8.0 shoes: Xtalon 212 #8 (Borrowdale'16)

Wearing in my next pair of race shoes - #7 still going well, the best I've had from Xtalons in a long time as I've been looking after them quite well, but not up to lakes racing now.

did 20mins tempos taking in 2 laps of the Graves Park XC course. Then a few strides.
