Nice comfy start at 6.15s, got avg pace down to 6.07 feeling comfy through to halfway and beyond, working with John (2.40.40) and a few others. Still feeling ok at that pace at 21 miles where we caught and passed a walking Zak. Tired but pace felt comfortable still, until a twinge of cramp hit. John had just gapped me a bit and I resolved to nurse it in and make sure I got under 2.45.

Had a banana at 6-8 miles and jelly babies for the rest. Some isotonic might have kept away the cramps and a 2.40.xx was on the cards (at 18-20 miles it was gamble time: hit 6s and dip 2.40 or keep it safe. Hit a few 6s feeling ok but discression was the better form of valour).

Good conditions and good support from Han, mum and sis. Also cheers from Rhys and ash and Edith and even saw random former ShUOC Ari. The guy who finished just behind me had shit himself.
