Down near Northampton for a wedding. 4x8(1) split lower end tempo on the Grand Union canal the some uncoordinated strides. Efforts 3 and 4 felt tough, wind or body?

Felt pretty rubbish all day and during a warm up. Though about not racing (that kind of feeling where you'll either run alright or have a heart attack) but then it's Roseberry topping.

Overhead someone saying he was the best descender in the country

Wd with Lee and another, then more on my own. Got back to overhear him going on about how he's the best descender in the country (again) based on Strava.

Roseberry Topping. 2nd to Lee Athersmith (wharfedale/raf) by a handful of seconds.
Path up, chute down. Lead at top by a small amount. Maybe going up the chute would have played to my strengths over Lee's but I was a bit defensive after feeling rubbish earlier. Bit mince descent but compares well with previous times - I'm alright at tech descents but not as good as I am - comparably - at longer runnable ones.
I suppose losing to the best descender in the country is no shame ;)

Plan was to run out to Lordstones cafe and meet Hannah for lunch. However the heat, yesterday and taking on a bit more terrain than planned saw me call for an early evac from Clay Bank and lunch in Broughton instead. Bumped in to Joe Blackett above Baysdale and Simon Franklin (Mr. Carol Morgan) at Clay Bank.
Last few weeks have been pretty good, a few more fallow days before the weekend then 2 weeks in Norway will probably do me good

Kong mini MM 4h (oops) score. I think I have only done 2 proper (ie not street) scores previously - OMM LS in 2010 and NEOA champion in 2012/3. I'm not good at judging time/distance when running.
Felt good for the first 2.5h but then hit a wall of a climb and some rough ground, lured by a high score. As it was gaining 50 points lost me 90 points being late and 80 gettable points I had to bypass on the slog home. Still good time on feet. Heat may have had a bit of an effect but probably still lacking some endurance - the shape I was in at MT last year wouldn't have had this problem. A few silly mistakes to be aware of but not too cataclysmic. Good day in the bank.

5.8km. Nice steady crash about an open area trying to focus on staying in straight lines. Some success, some bananas, good shin skin strengthening.
