G3T from Ayton with Gorgeous Jack Wood and Calum Hanson. Jack was after 20 miles but was happy to call it a day after 20km. We bumped into DPFR V55 Joe Blackett in the woods, who then proceeded to drop us all on the climb to Highcliffe Nab.
Muddy bits in fairly good condition. Bit breezy.

Ankle strength and mobility. It did stop clicking at some point on today's run, but is still a bit swollen.

With morning jog, gardening, walk to lift and warm up I probably managed 20000 steps before actually racing.

Running - Trail + Terrain race 50:52 [4] 12.28 km (4:08 / km) +39m 4:05 / km

Northern XC
I don't know what I expected, of course this would be a mess! Felt OK to start but legs felt tired and heavy. Went backwards throughout. Was really struggling on the heavy mud which is a shame as that's the bit I normally love - when I'm feeling good. Petey passed me at his customary point in proceedings and I just about held off a charging Tedwards at the end.
I can make a lot of gains in the next few weeks before the national and onwards to the fell season, but mustn't go too overboard.

Running - Road and Trail 9:12 [1] 1.71 km (5:22 / km) +1m 5:21 / km

Twice through Fletcher's Farm quickie to open the legs and lungs out.

slept:8.0 (rest day)

Don't want to jump in too far too soon.
"Think of the extra base fitness dog walking will give you". Well I'm not sure how much extra fitness a couple of strolls a day will give when I'm training well, but it may help ease out the muscles.
However all this is moot if the hound refuses to walk more than 200m before stopping.

Wednesday Jan 22 #

Running - Trail + Terrain 1:14:00 intensity: (10:00 @1) + (56:00 @2) + (8:00 @3) 13.74 km (5:23 / km) +435m 4:39 / km
slept:8.0 shoes: La Sportiva Akasha

Cooks and Roseberry on a lovely evening once home, and after having to retrieve pooch after a workman let her out the gate.
Ankle clicking.

slept:9.0 shoes: Mudclaw Classic Langdale'18

CFR sale fell club run. I know you don't lose much aerobic fitness over 3 weeks off but man it feels like I have! Still a bit phlegmy so maybe the time off was well timed and will hopefully pay off later in the season.
Will mince around Northerns and hopefully be fairly fit for National. Expecting descents at Carnethy to be a shit show though!

Early up Melbreak and Hen Combe for Hannah's birthday. Not as nice as yesterday but cracking nontheless.
