Old Cunty Tops with Lova, who wanted to see 'a lot of the lakes' whilst he was visiting, I think we fulfilled that brief.

Warm clear day. Started to feel a bit more energetic in the days beforehand, and enjoyed the run up to Helvellyn. But at the bottom of the descent my legs went to Jelly and it was a slog from there, seemed like I was taking pin steps, especially on anything a bit rough, where my fell dexterity has all gone when it gets rough/downhill.

Had it been an individual race I'd have likely bailed for Langdale early, but we resolved to get to Angle Tarn and have a swim, which cooled the body and gave a slight boost, enough to push on. From Scafell P we actually overtook about 8 teams in a slow motion 'race' of attrition and who was the least fucked (oh we were all fucked, just we were 0.1% less fucked).

Perked up enough on the way to the old man to celebrate our entry into the historic Lancashire boundaries by singing some Hotpots tunes and spotting a topless Rhys recumbent upon the fell, a mirage? the Old Man himself? Either way, a Rubens-esque call of 'paint me like one of your French girls' who delighted in telling us he'd DNF'd a 5 mile O race.

Necessary but tactically misstimed poo coming down Wrynose actually swung in our favour when the team chasing sprinted past us only to blow up one member. However they got ahead on the road at the end when we took the track. I'd told Lova early doors there was to be no racing today.

Very glad to get round and secure a hard earned T-shirt. I knew today was a complete and try to enjoy day. Shocking how I'll at ease I feel on the fells at the moment. Probably still a confidence thing (lots of talk over the months with Lova having similar after his concussion) but my knees were really achy which impacted stride and dexterity. I need to be more on it with exercises (for enjoyment in the now but most importantly longevity) and whilst I'm of the opinion that you either make time or excuses, the last few months have been very full on and the time and inclination to do them has dissappeared
