Run race (Parkrun 5k) 30:29 [4] 5.0 km (6:06 / km)

In Sydney so decided to do the St Peters Parkrun. Caught the train, the St Peters Park is across the road from St Peters train station so easy to get to.

134 runners, standing around before the start and a loud young lady shouts out - OK Warm Up time - and then proceeded to take everyone for a 5 - 6 minute warm up routine before the race.

They also had a pacer - a guy running at 25 min pace so if you wanted to go under 25 min you ran with him.

The course itself is on paths all the way. Its deceptively hilly and does a loop around the outside of the park followed by a loop around the inside of the park. The first km is gradual downhill, followed by around 1 km of gradual uphill, then a nasty climb of around 400 metres to the top of a hill, down the other side, a loop of the cricket oval, then gradual downhill to the 4km mark, then the last km to the finish is gradual uphill making it quite a tough finish.

An enjoyable run - quite hot - prob around 20C - 23C; reasonably pleased for my first time on the course

Good course at the Botanic Gardens with plenty of route choice. A bit slow early on in the gardens loop but better in the second loop through the cemetary.
