Orienteering 1:07:55 [4] 9.1 km (7:28 / km) +350m 6:16 / km
ahr:172 max:186

Ribs were still hurting before I began so pumped myself full of paracetamol and cracked on.
Went through the green to #1 and hit it ok. Then it just got scrappy and made my biggest mistake of the night. I didn't go high enough for #2 and started searching on an earth bank too short. Lost about 1.20 here. Scrappy for the next 2 but just off bearing. I took 10 seconds to work out the long leg and went north which cut out the climb. Unfortunately I was slow in to the control and ended up on the thicket to the SW.
Slow again to 6 but then it got better. I did lose 20 seconds going out the wrong way to 10 but still got the quickest leg over Geoff and Rich.
Clean to 19 only dropping 10 seconds on 15, 16 and 19. I hit #20 well going on the Eastern route. This seemed much better than everybody else who went West. I went through 26 on the way to 21 and picked up Tom at #24. Stupidly followed him to #25 which he went too far right on and had to readjust.
Ok to the finish. I was never really able to attack the course due to my ribs but I think this was a blessing as I was able to read the map well and never lose contact on a potentially tricky area.
Ran 10.5km.

Lovely bit of forest to start off with and made sure I didn't miss #1. I was way right on #3 and lost over a minute. A lot of people missed this control so feel a bit better about it as I took it really steady and was way off.
Ok until crossing the river just before #9 where I fell off the tree and came down on the next tree on my ribs. Very painful at the moment but not broken thankfully. Also got pulled off by Angus Lui at the end of this leg and dropped 30 seconds.
Steady after this and generally a decent run.
Not sure how the ranking points system works but the winner of the Brown course got way more points than myself but his minutes per k were a way down on mine.
Ran 10km exactly and another good area.
