Trekking/Hiking 2:00:00 [3]

Today's beer destination was a really amazing brewing out in the middle of nowhere called Hill Farmstead: http://hillfarmstead.com/main/ so we looked for trails nearby and decided on Willoughby State Forest: http://www.vtstateparks.com/pdfs/willoughbystatefo... where we ended up choosing a trail that climbed to the peak of Wheeler Mountain. The trail was really fun and gnarly with lots of scampering up and over rock interspersed with beautiful rooty singletrack through the forest on the ridge line. The views were magnificent and we were surprised by another trail register at the peak to sign!

Spent the rest of the day at Hill Farmstead sipping fine beers and waiting for growlers to be filled before the 9 hour drive home back to Ontario.

An excellent unplanned adventure and I am beyond well stocked for the holidays. Looking forward to East Coast IPA January!

Running 1:00:00 [3]

Had a lot of driving planned for the day so picked something en route for a short run. We explored the trails at Wilson Mountain Reservation: http://www.mass.gov/eea/agencies/dcr/massparks/reg... in Dedham, MA, which was in the city but had lots of cool trails to explore.

Next stop was Trillium Brewing Co: http://www.trilliumbrewing.com/ where more delicious east coast IPAs were sampled and bought, followed by a return trip to Tree House to line up (twice) in the rain for more Julius and another beer they put out called Green: http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/tree-house-green/2109... The line-up was much longer than the day before but it was really fun to talk to the other people in line and get tips for places to go.

At 5 we headed north to Vermont and stayed in Montpelier for the evening, selected once again for a great bar with taplist that did not disappoint!

Running 2:30:00 [3]

Went on an impromptu road trip with a friend of mine to explore some trails and breweries on the east coast. We left my place Sunday at midnight and drove through the night to Massachusetts, with the first stop being October Mountain State Forest: http://www.mass.gov/eea/agencies/dcr/massparks/reg... so we could play around on the Appalachian Trail. It was pretty cool to see and sign a trail register on the top of Becket Mountain! We had the woods to ourselves and fashioned a great loop of AT and one of the local trails while taking lots of pictures and exclaiming repeatedly how beautiful it was.

Next stop was Tree House Brewing which has some of the highest rated beers in the US and is known for their outstanding IPAs: http://treehousebrew.com/ As per the custom, we lined up outside for over an hour before they opened to get the day's allotment, which was 8 cans of a beer called Julius that was worth every second of the wait. Spent the night in Worcester, MA which was selected for a bar with an outstanding local tap list.
