X-Country Skiing 2:00:00 [3]

Alisha and I met up at Hilton Falls for her first ski of the season, which she did fantastic on. I haven't skied there in a few years and don't think I'll be returning anytime soon, as it was super busy, but we had a glorious day and found a great route that took us away from the crowds for awhile.

X-Country Skiing 1:00:00 [3]

Amber and I squeaked in one last ski at Twin Lakes before heading home. The snow had been falling for hours and there was tons more fresh fluffy snow. Twin Lakes was small but beautiful!

X-Country Skiing 2:00:00 [3]

Cold morning, so we delayed our departure to the Frost Centre trail system until it was at least -10! We could not have asked for a more picture perfect winter day, with beautiful blue skies and bright sun that made being outside so comfortable. The snow was falling off of the trees and glistening in the sunshine - just stunning! We skiied a few of the loops in the system, some of which hadn't been groomed yet after a big snowfall the night before. Making tracks on these trails was as much fun as skiing the freshly groomed ones. We only saw a couple of other people in there, which added to the feeling of remoteness. There were some really fun climbs and descents, and we only scratched the surface of the trails there, so I am eager to go back and explore some more!

Snowshoeing 1:30:00 [3]

After a quick hiatus and gear change in the parking lot, we headed across the road to check out the snowshoe trail system. There had been a fair bit of activity on the trails in the morning which was helpful, as we didn't have the energy for making fresh tracks! Our route was hillier than we realized, and towards the end, we were both pretty spent, but it made the happy hours beers and snacks taste all the more delicious!
