Trekking/Hiking 3:37:27 [3]

Amber and I had a goal of finishing the Blue Mountains section of the Bruce Trail last year, and we had made good progress with just a couple of hikes left before I got injured. I booked a weekend with Earl and Craigleith so that we could make some more progress on this.

The universe was on our side Saturday with an absolutely beautiful day. Alisha had come up the night before and hiked with us as well, although admittedly, after we stayed up a bit too late dancing on the beach and watching Taylor Swift videos on the van, none of us were feeling our finest on Saturday!

We started at Nottawasaga Bluffs and hiked to Petun Conservation Area, going through the aptly named Pretty River on our route. This was by far the most ascent and descent I had tried since I was injured, and I could tell that I had given the ol' achilles a good workout by the end of it, but it felt like a real triumph to be able to do this!

I was looking for some hiking inspiration this morning so I turned to AllTrails and tried to find something nearby that I hadn't seen before. AllTrails did not disappoint, and I chose the Preservation Park loop in Guelph starting and finishing at Hanlon Creek Park. It was a beautiful morning and this route had lots of variety, some easy doubletrack and lovely forested singletrack.
