Friday Feb 29

Skiing 51:00 [1]
Classic ski. Meant to ski longer but it was so freaking cold out that my hands were completely frozen and I was very cranky. Not worth suffering just for time.

Thursday Feb 28

Running 42:00 [1]
Easy run.

Wednesday Feb 27

Skiing 2:03:00 [2]
Long probably not easy enough ski at Mendon. Wish we had snow like this all season!

Tuesday Feb 26

Skiing 1:36:00 [2]
Chasing Chad Day in the dark through 4 inches of snow at Harriet Hollister. Fun but really tough on skate skis. Almost ran him over going down little Whiteface.

Of course it's snowing like crazy in Rochester now that my ski season is over =(

Monday Feb 25

Note
Skiing season is now over for me... this sucks but I'll be back with a vengeance next year.

Sunday Feb 24

Skiing race 26:44 [4]
Mass start Cheri Walsh classic 7.8k. Horrible horrible start. Everyone went by me. I never got back up to the leaders. Felt fine the entire race, it was just too congested to move.
Skiing 2:05:00 [2]
Warmup and very long cooldown. Thought I should utilize the nice snow here in NH. Bummed about the race, but had a really great time skiing afterward with Alex. Was pretty much cooked by the end of it.
Running 10:00 [1]
Early AM shakeout

Saturday Feb 23

Skiing race 15:34 [5] 5 km (3:07 / km)
ahr:184 max:194
Silver Fox Trot Skate 5k. Felt really great the entire time. I was really thinking about all the little pieces I had learned this year and never let up. I ended up 2nd place. This was my first Eastern Cup podium!
Skiing 1:15:00 [2]
Warmup/cooldown at Oak Hill. What a gorgeous day! Course was a bit mushy around noon, but it was fantastic skiing in the sunshine.

Friday Feb 22

Skiing 45:00 [2]
Checked out the course for the Silver Fox Trot in Hanover. It's an awesome course for me with lots of uphills, but there's a bit of a corkscrew at the end that makes me nervous. I skied it today so I could show myself that's it's not a big deal. First time going around it I did awesome. Second time I slipped on some ice and went off the course. I broke one of my training skis.... dammit!

Wednesday Feb 20

Skiing 1:08:00 [2]
Skate ski at Bristol. A little icy, and made my technique feel crappy for the warmup. Did 6x drop in sprints and felt a lot more on it. Feeling pretty decent for the weekend. Gonna keep the fingers crossed.

Tuesday Feb 19

Skiing 1:15:00 [2]
Really great classic ski workouts are hard to come by in Rochester. Solid tracks at Bristol Mountain and some killer ice klister pulled through for me today. It's hard to taper when you only get to ski a couple times a week and want to make the most of it though.

4x3min, 4x10s starts, and some no pole work.

Sunday Feb 17

Skiing 1:17:00 [1]
ahr:136
Classic ski at harriet. Got the kick great for the icy tracks (swix universal silver). Only problem was that there were no tracks where I wanted to ski. This meant I stuck in the slushy sticky snow that was all ground up everywhere else. After about an 45min of fumbling through this, I took out my other classic skis and waxed with my warmest hard wax. This didn't stick at all, and I couldn't stride up any inclines. Man I suck at waxing....

Did I mention it was raining the whole time too? Not a great day...

Saturday Feb 16

Skiing race 31:00 [4]
ahr:184
Byrncliff's Surfs up race. As with most Western, NY races not many people showed up (read I was the only female). It turned out to be a Battle Royal mass start against a bunch of guys. I got second, so only one guy escaped my wrath! Not a bad race overall. Also you can't underestimate the hills on this course... pretty fun.

Skiing 1:05:00 [2]
Warmup/Cooldown. What a beautiful day. Was really jealous I couldn't ski more (stupid tapering!).
Running 15:00 [1]
Shakeout run to the lab and back.

Friday Feb 15

Skiing 48:00 [1]
Skate with pickups.

Feeling guilty about not training the last couple of days, but work has been killing me. I could have done a 30min throwaway run yesterday, but figured it just wasn't worth the stress. Maybe I'm just getting lazy.

Wednesday Feb 13

Note
Day off. Feeling a little worked, will try to rest up and try to pull off this taper thing.

Tuesday Feb 12

Skiing 1:06:00 [1]
Low intensity skate. 20min no pole.

Monday Feb 11

Running 27:00 [1]
recovery

Sunday Feb 10

Skiing race 15:00 [4]
Classic 5k. Really difficult wax day, and I didn't get any warmup to speak of. Managed to end up with ok working wax, able to stride up hills but a little draggy on the downs. Frustrating, but overall decent race. Placed a lot better than I felt, 8th overall. Good for a short classic race.
Skiing 35:00 [3]
Really short warmup (like 5min) and some cooldown.

Saturday Feb 9

Skiing race 30:00 [4]
Skate mass start. Didn't feel snappy and was very spazzy, especially at beginning. I feel bad for all the skis/poles I managed to step on. I was in 4th for the later part of the first lap, and then just randomly exploded and tipped over. I was immediately passed by the next group and tried to hang on for the last lap. Not a good race at all.
Skiing 1:15:00 [3]
Warmup/Cooldown

Friday Feb 8

Note
Off/Travel

Thursday Feb 7

Skiing 1:35:00 [2]
10sec skate sprints. 5x V1, 5x V2, 5x drop in, 5x downhill drafting. Felt a little sore from spenst. Snow was a bit slow, but felt awesome aerobically. May have finally recovered from Craftsbury. Phew, just in time too =)

Wednesday Feb 6

Running 20:00 [1]
Ice rain made it almost impossible to run without killing myself. Worst run ever.
Spenst 20:00 [3]
Skate style hill bounding. Tough in the ice, but better than running on the roads.

Tuesday Feb 5

Running 33:00 [1]
Easy run. Didn't feel like driving for 2 hours just to ski easily. Still a little dead from Craftsbury. The plan is to do some easy skis tomorrow and Thursday with some speed to get back on my feet.
Strength 2:00 [1]
Pull ups.

Sunday Feb 3

Skiing 30:00 [1]
Easy ski after coaching beginning skaters for Women's Day. Feeling pretty beat up from the marathon.

Saturday Feb 2

Skiing race 3:11:16 [4] 45 km (4:15 / km)
Craftsbury Marathon. Hardest race I have ever done. Period.

Lots of climbing and steep, technical, icy downhills. Pretty dead by about 30k and feeling really icky by the finish.
Skiing 25:00 [3]
Warmup/cooldown

Friday Feb 1

Running 20:00 [1]
Easy run before drive to VT for Craftsbury Marathon and Women's Day.
