Bradford with the fam. Snuck out for a few runs on my own and really aimed for the furthest away ones with the most skating involved. Very tired afterward.

Skiing 49:00 [1] 6.6 mi (7:25 / mi)

Warmup/cooldown. Opted to get to weston early so that I could actually get some time on the course before it got shut down for racing. It was complete ice when i arrived. Barely able to get an edge in with frozen ruts. About halfway through warmup the piston bully came out and chopped it up. Much better thank god. Wasn't sure how I was going to race on the ice. Only managed about 10 min cooldown before the 2nd race started and then bounced.

Skiing 18:33 [4] 4.14 mi (4:29 / mi)

Tuesday night race

I positioned myself poorly for the pre-race meeting, so by the time I made it to the start area I was way back in the field. One of the guys looked back and said I should come up a few rows, but then that was shut down by the cranky race leader. Whatever.

Icy chaos start with some death cookies thrown in for fun. I managed to keep things together, but there was a real bottleneck at top of hill. I passed a few people on the downhill in the infield and then was able to get in front of the group by the top of the infield uphill. And there was already a bunch of separation between our group and some of the chase groups. Bridged up to one group fairly quickly, and just kept going around them. Then it took a couple of laps to bridge up to the next group. I drafted a touch, but I figured it was worth trying to see if I could make it up to the next separated racers up ahead, so got in the front of the group. Not enough laps left so never reeled anyone else in and let the guys behind me draft (although being shorter not sure how much draft they actually get). They did however sprint me to the finish, and I was just herky jerky in the chopped up icy madness before the finish shoot. Got beaten by the toko rep by a boot sadly. And no one gave me a valentine candy (i gave my finish candy away to one of the guys like pre-race instructions said). I think this group needs sensitivity training or something...

Overall good race though with passable conditions. Nice to see a 7% back (first time under 10% this year), but I think we were missing some of the fastest guys.
