| Cycling long (Road) 7:20:00 [3] 181 km (2:26 / km) +13780ft | ||
| High Pass Challange - from Packwood to end of Windy Ridge.
How's that for a big climbing day in the saddle? Didn't have a day this big in France! Beautiful, sunny day - perfect for a big ride in the mountains. Loved it except for the chipped rock surface along the Cowlitz River heading east to Packwood. Plus, the road was rolling with lots of shifting. Not much fun. My new SLC-SL felt fantatastic. It climbs so well. No energy is wasted. And it descends nicely. It makes you think Lance was wrong (It's not about the bike).

| Cycling race (Road) 1:12:00 [5] 36 km (2:00 / km) +1345ft | ||
| Vancouver Triathlon
Very tough, but fun, hilly course. Bike felt great but, need to work on the TT position/setup. Not so good. Couldn't climb and stand as knees banged arm rests.
| Run race 47:00 [5] 10 km (4:42 / km) +164ft vdot: 43.0 | ||
| Run felt great. Although my left foot was numb for the first 2k. I'll have to check cleat position on bike shoes.
I felt strong though. I thought I would suffer at threshold but I didn't. I kept a pretty fast pace and had some left in the tank the last 1k but didn't need to push. And...surprise...I won the Masters category! I was the 4th male to finish. I got passed at the 7k mark by the 3rd place male. He had a runner's body and was moving fast so I decided not to chase. Anyway, it appears only 23 people did the long distance so my finish is not so impressive but nonethleless, it's nice to win, since it happens so infrequently!

| finally some sunshine -- it called me to come out an run. Nice run. Felt good.
My Polar is getting refurbished so I postponed the 800m swim efforts until I can time and get HR data.
| Pilates/Core (Pilates dvd) 25:00 [2] | ||
| Got out the pilates dvd after the run. Lateral gluts were weak. | ||
| Swimming intervals 1:10:00 [3] 2.7 km (25:56 / km) | ||
| 6 x 500 on one minute rest. Total 3000 yards.
Didn't have HR monitor so I am postponing the 800's. Felt really good. Pushed hard on some portions of the intervals. Tried to be long. Felt suprisingly good given the lack of time in the water over the summer.

| What a bum I am.
Was going to swim across the lack but keep making excuses. Having trouble getting motivated.
