Shanendoah Epic, 1st in Mix duo.

Started antibiotics treatment on Thursday. Helen was still coughing after a long cold. Flight was cancelled and we didn’t arrive to town (Front Royal) until around 7pm day before race.

Shouldn’t have done this race.

Start was good. We took the lead for the firrst 3 hours. Other teams caught us at a checkpoint that was on the ground, half eaten by some animals.

Really hot day. I, wasn’t feeling that good and also got short on water. Was punished hard in the evening with cramps. Filled up after leg 3 with water and felt kind of ok. We had some problems finding #16 and lost a lot of time...

Leg 4 was done counter clockwise (free order). This turned out to be a mistake. Tracks unclear and very hard to find at night.

Leg 5 ok.

Was dehydrated after race. Didn’t feel good at all. Took a couple of days to get hydrated and ok again.

Rental bike. Veeeery heavy and geared out on the road. Anyway, it worked without problems and no flats.

Did 3x2.5km on treadmill. Started to fast on first and adjusted in the last 2. Tired after traveling.
