Running 1:33:01 [3] 8.1 mi (11:29 / mi) +400m 9:57 / mi
shoes: Brooks Running 16

Running with Sam and Presto at Tilden Park! It was supposed to be pretty hot today, so we decided to get out early and go to Lake Anza, which we figured would be less toasty than other parts of the Bay Area. It was a good choice, although it turns out a trail race was starting from there at about the time we showed up, so we had to do a bit of fighting for parking. We left just as the 10km and half-marathon started (the 35km and 50km races started a bit earlier), but it turns out we were doing their loops backward, so we didn't start running into people for a while. Presto was quite spritely this morning, which was a nice change from some of our trail runs before we went to Europe.

We headed up to Inspiration Point, over to Vollmer Peak, and then down to the steam trains. We were hoping to get water here, but it turn out that the water fountains were being guarded by an entire hive of yellow jackets, so we decided we weren't that thirsty anyway and trundled on. Luckily we found an unguarded water fountain a bit later down by the group campsite. My left hip flexor decided that 45 minutes of continuous uphill was all it had in it today, and was complaining a bit on the short uphills that were mingled in on our way back to Lake Anza, so I ended up walking some of these. My right knee was also feeling a bit uncomfortable by the end - not really painful, but I guess it isn't completely recovered from hyperextending it in Bulgaria. Still, a super nice run, and I think we finally tired Presto out a bit :-).

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Normal stretching after a trip to the grocery store on our way home. My right knee still doesn't hurt, but does seem to have decided to swell up. I iced it a bit and tried to keep it elevated.
